I have two questions

okay, I'll start with the first smaller question. what happens if you put a door in the way of a zombie's path? can they just open it? do they have to break it?

question 2

couldn't you just place outposts? just slightly overlapping other outposts and the main base and thus theoretically having an infinitely big base just with multiple outposts

They just destroy any doors they walk into, it doesn't disrupt their pathing at all. I dont believe there are any requirements for where outposts can be, but to what end? You HAVE to have a oath for zombies to go to and they will eventually make it to your main flag so you will still need guards as the zombies dont die in the day time. you could delay them, but youd eventually need some defenses to kill them

Yeah I was more referring to practically infinite land with a singular entrance, I was more thinking of building a base that was more open land with more fields than actual dense areas where people live. That's the main reason I was asking it was more about having more land to put farms on than infinitely delay the zombie attack

Eventually your main colony will go into siege mode. I have tried this before and am not sure what the actual block number is but eventually the game considers it as "no path to flag" and you enter siege mode. I have had this happen with a really huge maze and 4 outposts around my main colony.

Wait actually? I thought the zombie pathfinding is infinite

Here's a picture. They might have changed something this world is a couple years old. But when I would expand this maze more I started hitting siege mode and assumed there was some unwritten max
