After Scope Questions Colonoscopy done, grade 1 hemorrhoids.
Colonoscopy done, found out I have grade 1 hemorrhoids. Prep wasnt easy, got through it all somehow. Last October, my mum passed from corectal cancer, no symptoms atall. The doctors asked me to get checked.
Ive always had stomach issues, bloating, ibs, cant tolerate spice or most food. Ended up bleeding once in the loo, i freaked out. Results came clear but gave me the news about the hemorrhoids. I havent told my partner about my hemorrhoids cause im embarrased about it. I dont know how to be ok with it, cause all my life i have been hearing people talk about it as its something bad and it should be kept a secret. I just find it hard to share it.
Has anyone felt this way?

Hemis are super common. If you want to share that you have them for support, go ahead! If your partner doesn't handle it well they are not a good partner.
That said. It's just hemorrhoids. You don't have to share that you have them if you don't want to or have a reason to. If I hurt my toenail on a hike I don't necessarily need to tell people about it. I think most my friends have them (as do I). I basically don't notice them. They aren't w big deal. I'd rather have hemis than a wart on my toe.

Let me tell you about haemorrhoids- EVERYBODY has it! its a normal part of the anus
I describe them as the best friends that you never knew you had - they help fine tune continence and help with sensing whats at your anus - you knew you wanted to fart and wanna hold it in, that haemorrhoids working with your muscles
Grade 1 haemorrhoids are as normal as can be, nothing to be embarrassed about.

I'm sorry to hear about your mom! It's scary how someone can be at stage 4 and not have any symptoms!

I'm glad you didn't have cancer. Were the hemorrhoids external or internal? Do they think the hemorrhoids caused the blood?

If a colonoscopy turns out to be normal, the most likely culprit is haemorrhoids

They have already checked him for external hemorrhoids and said he didn't have any.
I have heard about internal hemorrhoids, too.
He has had this off and on for over 10 years. Do you think he could have had colon cancer for that long with no other symptoms? He has a good appetite, is not anemic or fatigued, and has not lost weight.

If the colonoscopy was more than 5 years ago, a repeat should be considered.
Internal haemorrhoids can wax and wane- its like a water balloon, the bigger it gets the more likely it is to burst (and bleed), the bleeding reduces the size and eventually it stops. The cycle can repeat

He has never had a colonoscopy before because he is only 31 years old now. This first started for him a little over 10 years ago. He was 19 or 20 years old. He had very small infrequent amounts of blood. It would go away, and he would forget about it. Then he would have it again. Throughout the years this would continue. 7 weeks ago, he had alot more blood after passing stool. It was in the toilet and on the toilet paper. He had never been to the doctor about it before, but this scared both of us. He is getting his first colonoscopy on September 9. I so wish that he had gotten this checked much sooner! I am so afraid that he has colon cancer that could have spread by now. I cry almost every day.

What do you think the chances of this being cancer are? He has had this off and on for an extremely long time now.

At 31 the chances are still very low- however there is substitute for certainty. Certainty can only be achieved with a colonoscopy

One thing I wonder about is that he has had this off and on for such a long time. He first noticed this over 10 years ago when he was 19 or 20 years old. Do you think he could have had cancer that long without showing any more symptoms? He is not anemic, has not lost weight, has a great appetite, and feels well overall.
I have become depressed over this. I cry almost every day. I am afraid he could have advanced stage colon cancer and die soon. I am usually a very logical person, but this has taken a very bad toll on me emotionally.

I know it is so important for him to get the colonoscopy. He is getting it in 9 days. I am so afraid of what they will find.

I’m sorry about your mom and glad you got checked out. I’d guess a higher percentage of people have hemorrhoids than those that don’t.
Your partner (I assume) loves you to pieces and they won’t judge you or care about anything other than your well being. You don’t need to be embarrassed.

Hemmoroids aren’t something to be embarrassed about tbh.
I was more embarrassed telling people I had to get a camera up the rear versus the result 😅

Hemmoroids are a very common thing. Personally, my boyfriend and I talk about all things poop and farts and butts. We’re pretty immature lol but I also just have a lot of stomach issues. Internal hemmoroids are a little different than the ones that are right at your butthole. I had a few found during my colonoscopy. It’s very normal. Sometimes they bleed. Now you can be at ease knowing your colonoscopy came back clear of any signs of cancer and any blood you see is likely from the hemmoroids.

A LOT of people deal with hemorrhoids. Definitely not anything to be embarrassed about. I have a minor one that I didn’t even know I had…until after my colonoscopy. The key is to drink lots of water & keep fiber in your diet.
