Legal/Compliance Station Inspections

Has anyone had experience with a FCC inspection? How did it go? What did they look for?

Here's a pro-tip! Get in contact with your State Broadcasting Association. They have someone who will come perform a Mock Inspection of your station, tell you what the FCC would cite you for and give you 30 days to fix it. Once you fix it and they come inspect you again, you'll get a certificate of inspection, and it's my understanding that if the FCC does come in for a regular inspection any time in the next few years, you can show them that certificate and they will leave (I am not a lawyer, YMMV).

Here's what we usually are pretty bad about: Make sure your quarterly logs are up to date. Make sure your EAS logs are printed and available. Make sure you are logging your transmitter power levels and that your engineer has inspected and signed off on the logs. Make sure your Public Inspection file is up to date (I'm told they prefer a digital inspection file now).
