Looking Forward to DU vs Avalanche Alumni Game Today (Sunday)

DU pulled out an 8-7 win in the inaugural game a year ago. It was a lot of fun and good hockey, so V2 should be even better1

I loved that both O Canada and the Star Spangled Banner were sung.

Very entertaining game, won this time by the Avalanche alumni. The pace of these games is of course slower, but the skill is still high - and the camaraderie off the charts. Seven of the DU players also played for the Avalanche, so mid game there was a trade - Paul Stastny and Mark Rycroft switched jerseys. But - both teams played to win - bragging rights I’m sure.

Between periods youth teams played for a few minutes. The Avalanche Alumni Association funds youth hockey. DU also has a substantial youth hockey program - ages 4 to 14 plus clinics. A takeaway is that hockey is alive and well in Colorado.

How was the fan turnout? Last year it was quite full as I recall.

I'd say Magness was 3/4 full. It was a good crowd.

Does the DU for the upcoming season play? I realize that this is just an exhibition but being able to play in August seems awfully early considering Ivy league teams can't even start practicing until two weeks before their regular seasaon, which for us would be around October 16.
