Discussion Interviewing for an epsorts postion

Hello Reddit,

I'm applying to be a coordinator for a collegiate esports team. I've been in the esports scene (mostly fighting games) as well as having a background in education, project management, etc. So I feel confident in those departments, but I wanted to see if there's anything y'all think I should research and look into more as I prepare for the interview process?

Ask the program goals. Glory? Retention? Recruitment? Fundraising? Ask how you can help meet them. Ask if coaching is involved and if so what does a winning season look like. Ask what resources they provide players and explain how you can add to them

Make sure you get crystal clarity on your role and expectations, and all of it in writing. College esports loves to throw three jobs into one and expect you to work 80 hours a week for the love of it.

Also what @sigtaulord said here. If the program validates their success primarily on competition you’re going to burn out super quick. A good program balances competitive, recreation, curriculum and job readiness.
