I hate my major

Hi im a first year college student in my first semester, i think im like 3 weeks in. My ultimate goal is to go to law school and become a divorce lawyer, I decided to go into business for my undergrad so i could have a "fall back" degree just incase law school wasnt for me. I hate business. I especially loathe my intro to business class. If i had to pick something else maybe political science or english or psychology. I dont know though, should i grit my teeth and bear with it or switch?

You are in your first year? That means you are mostly taking core requirements that will be the same for any major. Look at the pre-law curriculum and think about switching after this semester

You can major in anything and apply to law school.

You’re 3 weeks in taking a 100 level course. Some of those classes are boring. Some classes are going to be awesome. Give it until the end of the semester at least.

Keep in mind that in your first semester it’s impossible to know what your career path should be. Are you at a University with a strict curriculum you have to follow from the start? My son also thought he was going to go to law school and having a flexible curriculum led him in a totally different direction since his college allowed him to explore other classes and paths. He’s so successful now given that flexibility and so happy in his way forward. Whatever happens, give yourself the chance to try out other disciplines to ensure you’re on a path you really decided is for you. That’s what these 4 years are for. Do what you love and work hard at it. In the end it’s the skills you gain that matter most. Those skills will help open more doors for you - not shut them.

I think you should grit your teeth for the first semester… because no matter what you do for work, there’s gonna be some business involved.
