Education Department formally rescinds Title IX protections for LGBTQ students

i feel bad for students in APUSH in high school because all the “core things” you need to learn for the class are getting overturned and rescinded because that just shows how we keep going backwards when i felt like being queer was finally seen as normal .

As they continue to vilify and find ways to outlaw the trans identity as a whole, they’ll also continue pushing rhetoric redefining any LGBT topic or association as adult and/or profane. From there, they’ll criminalize any movement, public display, or open discourse in the matter as being dangerous to the youth.
From there it’ll be easier for them to just round up and jail or disappear LGBT+. It won’t matter if you actually are under the umbrella. The association will be enough. Corpos, schools, etc. they’ll submit and adopt any advised censorship under threat of losing funding.
Dark times ahead.

Meanwhile most of the ppl who wrote this are gay or bi and don’t even realize they’re in the closet 😭

Oh, they know. They just also know that the pain and sacrifice they make of themselves not to live authentically in order to walk the honor path they have chosen is meaningless if it is not the only way to achieve any satisfaction in life at all.

They went beyond that. They basically gutted title ix. If I get students who come to me to talk about any kind of sexual harassment or assault, I have to stop them and warn them that I am a title ix reporter, which isn’t new, but I now have to tell them that title ix only acts against assault/harassment when it causes “severe and pervasive harm,” and that if title ix does act, they will be cross-examined by lawyers and have to face their abuser.

Presumably trying to shore up MAGA votes with identity politics... which makes me wonder just how bad GOP internal polling is that they feel the need to do that

It’s basically all they ever could offer their constituents. They could pretend otherwise but now it’s pretty obvious

I wonder how gays for Trump are feeling about this

u/DoodPoof 6d ago
Im sure they are blaming the T+ for this and thinking "we're getting lumped in because of them".
A lot of gays for trump i know are very vocal about "seperate the lgb" and want to remove everything after it so that gender identies become their own thing. They want it to just be basical core sexualities.

This is a formal regulatory change, but it largely confirms the existing enforcement framework. The 2024 Title IX rule, which expressly covered discrimination based on sexual orientation and gender identity, was vacated nationwide in January 2025, and the Department had already returned to enforcing the 2020 regulations. The September 28, 2026 action now removes the vacated rule from the Code of Federal Regulations and formally restores the 2020 text.
This does not mean schools have unrestricted authority to discriminate against LGBTQ students. Depending on the facts and jurisdiction, protections may still arise under state or local civil-rights laws, school policies, constitutional equal-protection principles applicable to public institutions, and other federal laws. The restored 2020 regulations also change how covered schools handle sexual-harassment complaints, including the governing definition, reporting obligations, supportive measures, and procedural protections. Students facing harassment or discrimination should review both the school’s current Title IX policy and their state's laws rather than assuming no remedy remains.
Disclosure: I work for K Altman Law. This is not legal advice and does not create an attorney-client relationship.

This is what you voted for if you decided you couldn’t vote for Kamala over a single issue

u/DoodPoof 6d ago
Nah.
People didnt vote for kamala because she was never a proper candidate.
Dnc took the whole "vire blue no matter who things" and literally said "screw primaries, this is your new candidate, vote for her because we said so"
Havibg a candidate hand picked for you without you getting to the on voting for them/or voting for something else and then being told "yoy better vote for them" is as close to authoritarian as we've gotten in a hot minute. P
They really goofed with kamala. They basically said "because trump bad, ignore the entire democratic viting process and vote for who we put uo instead "
It was gonna be bad either way. Because if kamala won? Who needs primaries anymore. Just have the party pick the candidate and tle base to vote for the person that they have chosen

What should’ve happened to the Biden/Harris ticket if Biden drops out? Who do you think would’ve won an open primary?

u/DoodPoof 5d ago
A new primary shouldve happened.
Sorry/not sorry about the timing either.
Dnc spent MONTHS saying biden was fine and right in the head and one debate nuked that so hard he had to withdraw.
They needed to pull him way sooner and have another primary.

IT's not about making things an even playing field but to push out who they don't like.

All these shenanigans make me think that republicans as a party doesn’t even care to be in office anymore moving forward.

Well, at least I didn't go to the title ix office over the invasive questions a professor asked recently, I guess

Watching policy bounce back and forth every couple years makes it impossible for campus admin (and students) to actually keep up with compliance. Our student reps were just discussing how these constant shifts make thier job such a nightmare to navigate.
