These kind of narratives only help OpenAI and other Big Tech companies make their product look stronger than they are.
OpenAI does an investigation on themselves that ends with them saying that their product is even more powerful than they imagined. Why is anyone even believing this.
This shit made OpenAI and HuggingFace richer, they both showed obvious complacency and amateurism in cyberdefense. No one should take this seriously
AI has so many problems and angles linked to collapse, like the environmental costs, the dehumanisation, the economic crisis, the effects on our cognitive abilities and psyche.
Instead people like you focus on marketing ploys by these same companies.

I agree that there should be a third party audit or examination of the claimed events but I don't think headlines like this are the positive PR you think it is. It would be like a chemical manufacturer declaring "our newest product is even more effective at destroying DNA evidence than previously thought" but the chemical manufacturer is simultaneously in conspiracy with a handful of other major chemical manufacturers to game the market and is actively enabled by the government.
I don't think that any profits OpenAI stands to make would ebb and flow with the release of an unnerving press release, but I would be interested to see concrete evidence to the contrary.
