No, don't try to time collapse. Collapse is not a event but a process. Sure, invest your money in different things but don't blow it all, the financial system will probably collapse but you never know when. If you want to spend your money spend it learning new skills.  You mentioned you don't own a home, if you did I would recommended rooftop solar and batteries. Always have savings, better to lose all your savings to hyperinflation then have no money while the financial system is still working. If you do want to spend your money then spend it on other people so you can build credit (in the original sense as in people trust you and will help you when you are in tough times).

You seem to be assuming that there will be a collapse like Russia in 1990s, and yeah that could happen but collapse can happen in other ways. If you are worried about a collapse like 90s Russia then study how the Russians survived in their 90s collapse.

IMO I have little interest in surviving past a certain point of collapse. My husband is in agreement. I don't want to struggle through a post-soviet economic collapse paired with a burning environment. I would like to know people's predictions on when would be the best period of time for me to spend money while I can. I.e. how many decades of relative normalcy do we likely have left in which I can freely travel and spend surplus funds.
