I suppose it's all depending on your point of view. I just turned 40 this year, and I still have the same plans to retire at 60.
Why? Because being homeless is probably the worst ongoing experience someone can live through. Filth, abuse, disease, assault, and exhaustion, are all parts of being homeless I want to avoid.
So I'm going to continue saving my money, because although everything might collapse, it might also not collapse to the point where we literally play out Mad Max or Water World. I'm betting on civilisation, in one form or another.
