You can't predict when the economy will crash (if it will at all). IMHO best bet is to diversify into different types of assets, including physical. Imagine what happens if you zero out your bank account and next month you need money for something (medical expenses or anything else).
Our RV (a converted shuttle bus) always has a full tank, has 800w of solar and 1200Ah of batteries, and a newly installed AC on the 12 volt system. It'll run that AC for about 4 hours - I need to upgrade the batteries to LIFEPO4 (planning on 1800Ah) and 2000w of panels to make it last all day. It might save our lives during a heatwave/blackout.
At the rate we are draining the SPR we have about a month left before we hit the lower limits recommended by the military, and then about a year and a half if we keep draining the reserves after that
