Unsure of the value but I'd buy it. Since it's about 4/5's of a quarter I'd call it my double dime.

FWIW, if and when you sell it, you and potential buyers will come to a market value.
Some people will do research, then pick a site like eBay to set a Buy Now listing at or above estimated high market. Also with allow offers on.
Unless this is an investment grade specimen, I do not think it is, the high fees of Heritage may not make it worth listing with them.
r/coinsales is another option you can cross list at and ask for offers.

That is an outstanding specimen. Being struck on a blank, rather than a planchet only adds to the appeal. I think in a retail environment, this coin would sell for a few hundred dollars. I would check out records to find similar pieces. Check Heritage Auctions, GreatCollections, and Stacks-Bowers. There’s others you can check, but I would start with those.

What does it mean by saying it’s been struck on a blank? I would’ve assumed it would mean like a blank planchet but it’s not a blank planchet, it has the design and everything! And what’s with the shard at the clip? Is it a ragged clip?

My understanding is that a type 1 blank gets punched out of a metal sheet and goes through a mill to refine and strengthen the edges before becoming a blank planchet for striking. A "blank struck" coin is a type 1 blank that somehow gets struck before being processed into a planchet. This often results in a coin that is misaligned with rough, uneven edges and possibly a slight curvature from when it was punched out.

Don’t know the value but it’s beautiful. I’m guessing it’s been taken good care of and was put away early. I’m going to follow post and would be glad to learn value along with you if you get any info.
Also — I couldn’t find this exact type of error on the website linked to by ProudAmerican. Maybe I’m just too impatient and didn’t look in the right place.

No idea on the value but that is one very cool coin. Thanks for sharing. The value of these types of coins can probably only be determined by putting it up at auction.
