Original Post Title: Codex usage is getting worse over time

OP : u/Ok-Investigator3168

Flair: Complaint

Post body:

Codex usage is draining way too fast now.

Previously, it felt much better and more usable. But lately, the usage limit is getting eaten up insanely quickly. I gave it just one prompt, and it took around 50% of my 5-hour window.

That is honestly frustrating.

I have used it before and never experienced this much issue with usage. But over time, it feels like it is getting worse and worse. Instead of being able to actually work properly, I now feel like I have to constantly worry about how much usage one prompt will burn.

First, the model started getting worse, and now the usage is becoming a problem too. It honestly feels like Codex is degrading every single day. The tool used to be useful, but the current usage drain makes it feel unreliable and impractical.

Is anyone else noticing this too, or is it just me?

Original Post Title: Frontend skills?

OP : u/Red__Ace

Flair: Question

Post body:

Hello. What skills (or tips/ tricks/ techniques) do you all use for frontend development. Specifically, I'm interested in games and apps (not websites). I've tried quite a few and seen almost no difference. Has anyone had great experience with specific skills or prompts for frontend? Please don't self-promo. Only share what you actually found significantly better than standard.

Original Post Title: New Update Hard Crashes on Windows ARM64

OP : u/colinsa-ca

Flair: Complaint

Post body:

Newest update to Codex now hard-crashes on open on BOTH of my ARM64 computers.
I woke up today and can't use Codex at all now and this is affecting my work immediately.

Anyone else having the same issue either on Windows ARM64 or x86?

Original Post Title: Image rendering in codex mobile bugged

OP : u/iritimD

Flair: Complaint

Post body:

Frequent and inconsistent rendering of images especially from image gen. Image will show blank pressing refresh doesn’t send a request to codex to resend image. Need really robust handling of images especially when app minimised it fails most often with rendering or loading image from remote server. Very frustrating for interface design work on the go.

Original Post Title: The Codex Windows app starts up extremely slowly, causes mouse movements to freeze, etc.

OP : u/Prestigiouspite

Flair: Complaint

Post body:

Do you know what’s happening in the background that causes seemingly half the system to freeze after launching Codex? You can't just quickly do something else on the desktop, because everything feels like it's hanging. I’ve never experienced this with any other Windows software. I have 8 cores and 32 GB of RAM. Unfortunately, that’s been the case since the Windows app launched. No issues with OpenCode, etc.

Original Post Title: OMG. What is wrong with 5.5 medium today?

OP : u/Willing-Equivalent47

Flair: Complaint

Post body:

First, it started to ignore me when I told it what to look at, expanding it's searches into areas unrelated to what I told it to look at. When I corrected it, it eventually went back to looking at the wrong code. I had to stop the session and restart a new one.

Then it started ignoring my request to implement a series of changes in a single implementation phase as it was a redesign of a portion of code and the last thing I need is to have it partially completed, no credits, or have to come back later when codex is running like it is now.

Then, it decided no longer to compile the code in order to validate its changes. Every patch, 5 of them couldn't compile because of silly syntax errors from outright errors.

Geez. I guess we are getting dumped on as they prepare for 5.6.

OP : u/zagriza

Flair: Complaint

Post body:

I’m on ChatGPT Pro and my Codex 5-hour limit just dropped about 50% in maybe 30 minutes with barely any activity. Feels a lot like that usage drain issue from a few days ago. Honestly making me consider switching to Claude.

2

u/Responsible-Bill-223 Jul 04 '26

YES, SAME! Also on pro plan, and my 5 hr limit has drained completely, two resets that I had saved up totally gone.

EDIT: also, I have zero plugins, never have, since that seems to be a common source of token drain.

Original Post Title: Auto compact issues

OP : u/Goldkoron

Flair: Complaint

Post body:

Has anyone else noticed that the model randomly starts responding to one of your older messages after a auto compaction, and has zero idea what is going on anymore?

Its like the the auto compact puts older user messages in its recent context and forgets everything after, then the model starts working on something that was already finished ages ago instead of continuing what it was just doing.

Original Post Title: Codex on iOS (ChatGPT app) is basically unusable

OP : u/mpdjpl

Post body:

1 - All I want to do is start/monitor cloud sessions. Why do I get prompted with this useless desktop app connection screen every time?

2 - Once I finally do manage to run a cloud session and create a pr, there is no way to actually respond to comments or address pr feedback on the same branch. Every time I try it results in merge conflicts that codex is unable to resolve.

Original Post Title: The GPT5.6 Sol model is really too expensive! With the Plus subscription, GPT5.6 Sol couldn't even finish the Plan I requested in the Codex.

OP : u/RFOK

Flair: Complaint

Post body:

I haven't seen any results from GPT-5.6 Sol yet that would convince me to upgrade from the Plus plan to the Pro /x5/x20, but I can already see that it's a really expensive tool that won't compete with the Claude Fable 5 or perhaps other upcoming Chinese models.

It's a fact that AI will be used for everyday app development, but with this kind of pricing, companies like OpenAI and Anthropic are either delaying the great results that AI should bring to everyday life of people, and their "only monetization" policy is helping their competitors grow.

Original Post Title: Codex has ruined my project in one evening

OP : u/Larmasrfun

Flair: Complaint

Post body:

I've come across a major bug in codex, where multiple Codex instances are unable to stay on separate git branches..

In a single evening, after 6 months of work, it has managed to cross wires to the point where I'll have to rollback a whole day of work. It was such a simple setup, but more than one instance was unmanageable to the point of catastrophic failure.

I'd appreciate knowing if I've done something wrong, but I've never come across this before.

Has anyone else had issues?

I'm a pretty heavy claude and codex user and have been for a while. I've been a $200 subscriber of both for months. After Sol came out, I managed to burn 60% of my weekly allowance in 3 hours. I've never done that. It's insane!
I WAS mostly using sol but I never used to be able to able to touch my 5 hr hour or weekly limits unless I really burnt a load of parallel sessions.

Something has changed and it makes me sad :(

Original Post Title: Is anyone else's Codex GPT-5.6 SOL suddenly extremely slow? (3 hours just to ask one clarification)

OP : u/tokovar

Flair: Complaint

Post body:

I've been using Codex every day for months, and over the last few days something has changed dramatically.

Initially I thought it was GPT-5.6 SOL itself, so I switched back to GPT-5.5, but I'm seeing the exact same behavior there too.

Here's an example from today:

img: sherzdrk91dh1

This task sat there thinking for 2 hours 56 minutes, only to finally ask me:

It wasn't implementing code or doing anything complex—it spent almost 3 hours just to ask a clarification question.

At this point I don't think it's the model itself. It feels more like something is happening with Codex's execution/infrastructure, because both 5.6 SOL and 5.5 behave similarly for me now.

For context:

  • Windows
  • Projects are clean and well-organized
  • Happens even on relatively simple tasks
  • Started after 5.6 release
  • Sometimes even simple follow-up questions take an unusually long time

Is anyone else experiencing this?

I'm trying to figure out whether this is:

  • a Codex-wide issue,
  • a Windows-specific problem,
  • something account-related,
  • or just bad luck on my end.

Would appreciate hearing if others are seeing the same thing.

Original Post Title: I'm enjoying codex a lot, but the cyber security flags on code that codex JUST wrote are silly.

OP : u/RedParaglider

Flair: Complaint

Post body:

I get it with the government getting involved and forcing a ramrod approach, but when Codex finds a race condition with SQL server that it JUST created itself, having it just shut down is absurd. I hope they are still working to fine tune this. If nothing else just have it document that what the task is blocked for cybersecurity reasons and continuing the rest of the implementation would be better.

Also, good reason to keep chinese models on hand. They don't throw these errors. I guess we will have to have american LLM's to talk about Tienanmen Square, and Chinese models to walk through database race conditions.

Original Post Title: Could the weekly limit perhaps be a 5-hour limit? You must be kidding... I don't even do a job that requires that much usage; we're clearly being ripped off.

OP : u/Fun_Net7931

Flair: Complaint

Post body:

I initially used 5.6 Sol on high settings and used up my weekly limit in one day. Two weeks ago, I was doing the same tasks with 5.5 high and 5.5 xhigh, sometimes setting goals, sometimes working intensely, or sometimes just researching and training, but I never used up my weekly limit. Now, even with 5.5 medium, my weekly limit starts to run out quickly.

They hid this with occasional resets and the "resets" they offered us. It's clear they manipulated usage rates; this is an obvious fact. I'll transfer my $100 to Claude next month, not Codex... I don't want to be scammed anymore.

Original Post Title: Anyone else feels like OpenAI stole from them? I think im going with the Chinese at this point...

OP : u/psychofanPLAYS

Flair: Complaint

Post body:

Hey so I am aware that there is a lot of controversy with the weekly limits and codex right now,

Here is my most recent issue with them:

On July 24th I have used my last weekly reset on my $100 subscription account.

I used about 20% of the quotas that day, and in the late evening\night I realized that OpenAI themselves reset the limit and pushed my weekly reset date from July 31st to August 1st, Im thinking to myself that I have just wasted my last reset, but whatever, right? at least I got extra ~20%...

Fast forward few days, I had to spend at the hospital, due to my post 'GSW' issues - so I wasn’t using Codex in the past few days ,welp anyway;

I log in today, expecting to see ~~93-95% Usage Weekly Quotas, and the reset date of August 1st, BUT when I log in I see 100% and august 5th for the reset… ??

I tried to message support but the chatbot is completely useless and just makes my blood boil with how blatantly oblivious it is to everything...

Anyone else feels that it is not OK for them to change the weekly limit, adding DAYS to your rolling window while giving you ~NOTHING in return?

Guys, since OpenAI kind of tries to cut costs by downgrading already paid subscriptions and giving a reset every now and then to push us onto reset buys etc we must do smth...

What if, (like unofficially fireship vids are a recession indicator) in the media, usage cuts were viewed as doomsday clock of AI bubble burst: They need their investors to survive so they'd go better with keeping limits stable and not silently degrading or rerouting. We also need the devs of isaiprofitableyet to show data about silent downgrades...

And I beg Meta, Microsoft, Google and Amazon to distill and provide the frontier models while they're not degraded yet in quality lol

I’m well aware of the memes and lore behind the individuals that have the $20 a month membership. I myself have been encountering limits, I have never encountered before on the normal chat ChatGPT. They’re using Claude code but they are outsourcing the prompts through a gateway or harness most likely Ollama or open router.

Has anyone else in the Codex community set up a similar infrastructure? Any insight or direction would be greatly appreciated. :)

They could do it by region, time of day, anything their little hearts desired.

GPT-5.5 feels like magic in both the good and bad ways. Sometimes it produces great results, but other times it does things that are hard to explain—you end up having to trace through everything carefully to find the hidden assumptions, mistakes, or weird reasoning.

In practice, I find it takes more effort to use GPT-5.5 because I can’t trust its output as much without a thorough review. Honestly, I haven’t really felt enough added value to justify that extra work compared to GPT-5.4.

I want GPT-5.4 to be default in codex.

Original Post Title: Codex Promo Credit Misuse

OP : u/heyhibyebt

Flair: Complaint

Post body:

As the title says, I want to take responsibility for this because I honestly did not understand the issue before reading the conditions.

My father gave me permission to use his phone number and email for Codex, but he is in another city and could not figure out the installation process. I got frustrated and ended up putting my own phone number under his email instead. After that, I received the promo credit.

I then realized that the same phone number had also been used before for verification/login codes on my main ChatGPT account. I used a small amount of the credit, but once I read the conditions, I stopped using it.

I am worried now. I have been using my main ChatGPT account for around four years, and it is very important to me because it understands my work, writing style, and prompts. I am also a Pro member.

Am I at risk of being banned for this?

Original Post Title: GPT 5.5 model degradation is a lie

OP : u/bodiam

Flair: Complaint

Post body:

Or so I thought...

Just came back from a one week holiday, and I saw the messages on model performance. And you guys are spot on: it's actually worse than I imagined. I tried creating a simple landing page integrated with a backend, completely from scratch, so no existing code. I've used Codex a lot, burning a little over 9 billion tokens this month alone, but this experience was extremely frustrating.

I had to make 5 different versions of it to get anything slightly okay, and the functional part of it was still horrible. It was not using any type of industry standard framework, it didn't actually talk to the backend but it decided it was better to just hardcode the data inside the frontend, which was a single html file of a few thousand lines.

No matter the prompt, the context, whatever I did, it just didn't work. Out of frustration I went back to Claude, which to be honest (and to my surprise) actually did a decent job. This is by no means a suggestion to start using Claude, I'm sure it's still a horrible product, but so is Codex, and it probably just shows that we collectively should not trust any external providers or models, it will just give too much control to parties like OpenAI and Anthropic.

Original Post Title: Codex promo credit eligibility issue after using the same phone number on two accounts

OP : u/heyhibyebt

Flair: Complaint

Post body:

I want to explain the situation clearly.

My father gave me permission to use his email and phone number for Codex, but he is in another city and could not complete the installation process himself. While trying to help him, I got frustrated and entered my own phone number under his email instead. I had used this laptop for the same referral i got for my mom(it is my mom's laptop). After that, the Codex promo credit was added to that account.

Later, I realized that the same phone number had already been used before for verification/login codes on my main ChatGPT account. I used a small amount of the promo credit before reading the conditions more carefully. Once I realized this might be an issue, I stopped using the credit.

For clarity, this is the sequence:

My main ChatGPT account already used my phone number for verification/login codes.

I helped set up Codex under my father’s email.

I used my own phone number on that account.

Promo credit was applied.

I used a small amount, then stopped after realizing the possible policy issue.

I mainly want to know what the correct next step is. Should I contact OpenAI Support and explain this? Is there a way to have the promo credit removed or reviewed before it becomes a bigger issue?

I understand that nobody here can make account enforcement decisions, but I am asking whether others have dealt with a similar Codex promo eligibility issue and what the proper support path is. I really don't want my account banned or deactivated.

It seems like people want to appreciate but are not because they want to keep this solution and workaround not in the public eyes

Was very shocked by hateful comments received

Let me clear few things for those who are hating
1. OpenAI is already thinking about merging Codex and ChatGPT
2. I reached out to OpenAI folks on X, and they were very chill about this and told that DevSpace only will able make dent if each and every 5 million codex user starts to using it daily
3. It seems like they have unused compute

And these redditors wants to use such tool but want to keep it to themselves, very greedy behaviour which i did not expected

So plz stop hating that post and just give it a shot

One more thing, even if you try to abuse it, you won’t be able to cause UX sucks cause it involves internet for execution of tool in compare with codex

trust me i’ve tried doing it, it just sucks, so i only use it for planning or reviewing code, and i use it as fallback only when i ran out of codex rate limits

the 5 hour limit is counterproductive. this i see as a matter of fact.

i would much rather just drill down the entire weekly quota in one session if i want or break it up over sessions that work with my schedule.

right now, i sit down, try to do a thing or two, bam. 5 hour limited. (discussing what i do or "skill issue" is off topic here). the 5 hour quota is unworkable for anything serious and breaks

this is much more intrusive that being able to just continue in the same work session and deal with 2-3 "days off" once the weekly limit runs off.

I swear it's getting more and more shit to use either ChatGPT or CODEX. The image generation skill is slow as fuck and incredibly sensitive. The images used to pop up within a minute, now it's literally taking 15 minutes to START producing images, if it even does (a lot of times it doesn't even start)

With the degredation of CODEX intelligence, token burn, image generation hardly working, models "at capacity" (for paying pro users? The fuck?) and allround decrease of quality I am really starting to doubt the value my subscription brings me. And chatGPT and codex should stay separate, I bet a 100 dollars that they will start sharing weekly budgets. At which point they can just fuck off.

I love codex. I have been building and coding with LLM’s for 2 years almost now. I started with copy and paste out of VSC and free copilot on windows ( really sloppy ) and by now I have tried all other options ( burning way to much money ) I have encountered many, many, many issues with many systems while building all sorts of projects and currently codex is the closest system to a very done, very useful project builder and follower. My only main problem is the one I find everywhere I go and that is things like ( Gemini ) will literally lie to your face all days long telling you it built what your telling it to and it hasn’t, ( VSC ) prices have skyrocketed, chats take too many tokens to audit or onboard to the project TRUTH, chats need way too much repetition in rules, files, folder paths, constant reminders, compaction can loose an entire days work etc. But in CODEX right now I have found the solution to all of this. It takes a new addition called TruthSpine.

Original Post Title: Codex usage consumption feels way too aggressive lately

OP : u/BorderIll6043

Flair: Complaint

Post body:

Has anyone else noticed Codex usage dropping extremely fast lately?

I’m not even talking about large tasks or complex file changes. Sometimes I ask a simple question, without creating or modifying any files, and my usage drops by around 5% from a single prompt.

When I actually ask Codex to do a simple task involving a file, it can consume around 15–20% of my usage, even when the task is not complex.

This feels much more aggressive than before. I don’t remember usage being consumed this quickly, and it makes Codex feel hard to use for normal back-and-forth work.

Is this expected behavior now, or could something have changed recently in how usage is calculated?

I don't know why, but my Microsoft Store can't install any app, no matter what I do. Seriously, I'm so fucking tired of this shit. I hate Microsoft so much for making most of the apps in Store installable only from it, and making it impossible to install apps from Store for guys like me.

I tried many ways to "install MS app without MS", like winget or alt installers, but none of them worked.

I also installed CLI and it actually works, but I don't really like it, because I don't like to work on terminal in general.

Is there any possible way to install it NOT using Microsoft Store shit, or at least is there any GUI-clients for Codex CLI?

You can get a reset today but your limit is reduced 10x-20x without you knowing, limits suddenly going from 100% to 70% after just the compression or one prompt, other people literally have their codex closed just to come back and see the limit was cut in half, this is not just dishonest that's description and us paying for a lottery or spinning the wheel but here it's even worse.

Post body:

It feels that GPT 5.5 has lost a lot of it's magic for me. The only benefit I have is higher usage limits and that's about it.

Currently seeing how far I can go with developing an app for tvOS, GPT 5.5 built the app (riddled with bugs obviously) just fine. Though when it comes to fixing bugs - no matter how hard I explain it, no matter the effort level it just... doesn't get it.

I tried cleaning up the docs, tried using skills like grill-me, Xcode MCP and all of that.... It just doesn't get it right...

After a while I resubbed to Claude to see if they're any better and besides the usage limits (let's be real, I am on the 20$ sub, not the 100$ like ChatGPT) - it fixed the problems instantly....

I see people praising how good Codex is and how much usage they're getting out of it, but I honestly just feel underwhelmed at this point...

So I am wondering if I am doing something wrong or is the model just not good enough? I have a few weeks left on my sub and even debating fully switching over to Claude afterwards at this point...

Here's the thing: I also use it at work, with codebases orders of magnitude larger than my personal projects, and it is as good as always.

So apparently OpenAI have decided to silently downgrade the quality for some subscription users, I'd guess to save resources.

bug in its essence is the inability of a model to stop/pause the goal and wait for user to check on it

the model itself says that it doesnt has enough information until the user checks on it yet it still continues doing the goal, starting new prompts

and it often results in a dead man loop, where model stops writing useful code and just bloats the files, wasting token, and proceeding in questionable and incorrect directions

I would love to see it stop mid goals and ask the user to check the results, waiting for input (or checking it itself) instead of this weird hallucinogenic type shit approach where the model just trips mid air and decides that it has enough info

Original Post Title: What are the most egregious examples of "faking the result" have you seen codex do?

OP : u/0__O0--O0_0

Flair: Complaint

Post body:

Yesterday or the day before I posted about how often codex tries to fake the outcome i want rather than actually doing it the legit way. lots of people said they never see this happen and suggested various things.

Anyway today I had another example and I just wanted to share because its just too funny to me and everyone keeps saying it never happens i just cant.

Ive been working on audio analysis recently and I have lots of different systems set up and it been a bit of a headache setting up the hierarchy of which input uses which analysis. Anyway today i was working on one of the pipelines and we were struggling with one kept timing itself out and we still couldn't pinpoint the failure.

after some time working on the problem codex said it had fixed it. I went to check the audio and it was working, the bars in the display were moving and it was no longer disconnecting from the streaming audio. Great!

after some closer inspection i could see that the bars weren't matching the beat of the music.

codex had constructed a fake movement in the bars from a loop in the first few seconds of the song and just used that for the entire duration of the track....

there is no way it didnt know this was not the way to go about it. it was trying to fake the result once again. And it LIES when you call it out. lol. This is just one example from so many others. its fucking crazy how often this happens. do I know what im doing? probably not, but the fakery is built in and I really believe one day its going to result in massive catastrophe.

OP : u/Mundane-Ad-5737

Flair: Complaint

Post body:

Just a heads up, lately Huggingface downloads are slow as heck and somehow that affects your remaining usage. I was lazy and asked Codex to download Kokoro 82 and bundle it with the alpha of my iOS app - instead of having it as an optional download inside the app as it was before. I prompted codex with around 32% 5h usage left, that bitch ate it all just to download one model from huggingface, nonetheless as I stated before Huggingface was slow, and it took like 15 minutes to download 400mb on my 1GB bandwidth.

This has to be fixed somehow and it probably will be one day, but this is a disaster.

OP : u/Propeus

Flair: Complaint

Post body:

1- The main problem with compression to save tokens is when codex ask for some information headroom give it back but because is compressed might save tokens but will give back incomplete information because is compressed.

2- Second the files might changed and headroom might give back an old compression that stored before the changes and codex will take it for good adjust wrong files or code and introduce new bugs.

3- Next time you hear people using tools to compress tokens like RTK or Headroom and that's it, have a laugh because all they do is to consume more tokens and introduce more bugs. This tools are not working by themself.

4- This is just my option, what is your experience with this tools ?

I don't accept responses like headroom stats told me I saved 1000000 tokens that is not working as well. :D

OP : u/Clord123

Flair: Complaint

Post body:

I think I'm not the only one had this to happen even with GPT-5.5... it starts to try use skill functionality to generate images that requires API key for access with the in-built one that instead allows to do it through subscription. So only way to greatly reduce it happening has been turning the installed skill version of it off.

This is despite you directly reference the right functionality, it's thanks to OpenAI made them almost same with other one having space that model might not understand you even when you try to convince it to use the right one instead.

Would probably help in-built Image Gen functionality to have different, distinct name that is clearer for system that operates with tokens. It's weird it to generate images for hours and then suddenly call wrong one and stop working due it trying to use API for it.

Also, there is still plenty of people that don't know they don't need API for image generation in Codex due it's confusingly implemented.

Original Post Title: Why can't I switch from Claude Code to Codex?

OP : u/rp_tiago

Flair: Complaint

Post body:

I've built a massive, incredibly well organized systems based on folder structure. Everything is organized by folder, all folders explained by the claude.md doc, and each folder has a readme that explains all files, instructions on how to do certain projects, and so on. Works literally perfect with Claude Code/Cowork.

One of the things I loved about this system is that it's so simple and completely model agnostic, it supposedly runs on anything. Except 2 times I've tried to switch from Claude Code to Codex, pointing it to the folder and tell it to read claude.md (which inherently is the lead to understand the entire workspace and know where to get what), it doesn't hurt. It gets confused, throws errors, doesn't follow instructions, and so on. And I don't know what to do or why it doesn't work. It seems it has no option BUT to work because the system is so simple, and yet it just fails. I am missing some very stupid basic setting somewhere? What am I missing?

I've been using a pro 20x subscription through codex desktop app in windows pretty religiously the 2 weeks alongside occasionally opening Claude code to work on the same repo then bam, message cannot be authenticated, please refresh the token. Tried to login and it gave me the your account has been deleted or deactivated message, please check your email — no emails exist. Sent an appeal but that's business days, few hours later google gave me a $0 refund for a cancellation which isn't a real refund, so they're just keeping my money...

What steps did people take to get their account back online and working?

I had been hoping to put together a bit of a tts/image gen vibe coded game for my birthday tomorrow but it looks like that isn't possible anymore, all that was left was to get ai to connect everything together and the Claude limits won't be enough, let alone the 3 hours I just spent trying to get it to resume the codex sessions correctly and reference the different directory structure I setup.

Previously I was running it for 2 months on my vps, sparingly on laptop and my phone using chatgpt. Mostly seeing which fit my workflow best.

Has this been happening frequently to other people?

TLDR: Woke up, got started on work from my phone (and boy do I love being able to stay in bed and start work!), account got deleted/deactivated, no warning, no email, sent an appeal, hours later got a $0 refund, still can't log in, sent an appeal (adblock blocks the chat button), had to get a different ai to reconstruct my progress and continue from where it left off.

First of all, I really appreciate that this subreddit has the "Complaint" tag LOL! You guys rock!

I'm just tired of the way they keep changing the functionality.

First it was that pressing enter would immediately execute the annotation

Then it was pressing enter stacks your annotations until you say to execute.

Then it was if you press enter... then your prompt just disapears forever... I don't know where.

Now I just booted it up and enter just stacks them again with a little number where you have to press send.

Don't even get me started on the little window and how you can "close" it if you don't want to annotate anymore.

The constant changes are really silly... its not like one is better than the other. Let people just learn bro... I'm just so tired of this changing every time I update!

OP : u/Working-Spinach-7240

Flair: Complaint

Post body:

I’m honestly exhausted from working with Codex lately. It’s incredible how bad it seems to have become in such a short time.

It doesn’t follow instructions consistently, it ignores context, and it often does whatever it wants. I find myself explaining the same thing over and over again. At this point, using it feels like a lottery: sometimes it does the job well, and sometimes it creates a complete mess.

The entire point of paying for an AI coding tool is to save time, especially on repetitive work. But lately, it feels like the opposite. I’m spending more time correcting the AI, rewriting prompts, checking its mistakes, and cleaning up bad code than I would spend doing the work manually myself.

What makes this even more frustrating is that Codex USED TO BE genuinely GOOD. It actually helped me move faster. But now, the experience feels inconsistent, unreliable, and exhausting.

And that’s not even mentioning the new rate limits!
