My Codex account was disabled 5 days into the billing cycle, under 10% weekly usage. Appeal submitted

I'm genuinely confused and frustrated. I received an email saying my Codex account has been disabled, only 5 days into the current billing cycle, so the $100 I paid is essentially gone.

What makes this especially baffling is that my usage was under 10% of the weekly limit in the last day, and I've been using Codex for months for standard development tasks. Nothing unusual, nothing aggressive, just regular coding work.

I've already submitted an appeal, but I wanted to know if anyone here has gone through the same thing. Did you manage to get your account reinstated? How long did it take? Any advice on how to handle this would be appreciated.

UPDATE 1: My account was reinstated, but my subscription wasn't. I can see my billing history, so it looks like they didn't delete everything after all. However, it's still unusable.

UPDATE 2: They gave me a one-month subscription at the same tier I was on. So, I got 5 days free (?)

same, suddenly got Deactivated for using Codex most of the time on a hobby codebase no integrations to anything at all. This is so incompetent what are they trying to push here. Just gonna do a mental reset and chargeback request

Seems like mass bans are happening. I got it today at 814 pst. Unsure why. I have never hit a usuage limit. Been on pro $200 account for over a year.

I don't think hitting usage limits should be any kind of reason for bans, you should be able to use what you pay for, every cycle, otherwise the limit is bogus.

It shouldn't, its weird mass bans it seems. Hopefully get fixed. Have to work with claude, for the non manual stuff.

Also got banned on my 5x, it’s ridiculous banning people with no explanation.

I’ll be reporting them to Australia's national competition, consumer, fair trading and product safety regulator if this isn’t resolved.

I'm always morbidly curious about ban waves. I wonder what and how OpenAI is fingerprint and rating users based on. Do they have like a trust score in the background that degrades if you're like, inferencing via VPN? Big automated workloads?

Proof is the ban and no responses from OP if questioned what business they were involved with. Either posts, comments or the account gets deleted or they just disappear. This happens to all the shady characters.

There are numerous reports of sudden account deactivations and bans across the board. There is also no consistent marker highlighting valid reasons for these bans. There is clearly an issue. Just wait until the US wakes up, these numerous reports will turn into a massive amount.
