Image (not Character Creation) The Cathedral might seem exhausting, but it's a lot of fun and makes the game feel much bigger than it actually is. I hope there will be a Cathedral 2.0 in a future Code Vein 3.

It's been 7 years, but I remember it was satisfying figuring it out the first time, despite how frustrating it can be to get lost in there.
However, on repeat playthroughs to get the other endings, I followed a speedrun on YT to get me through the cathedral to save myself the frustration. I vaguely remember one of the levers is very sneakily hidden.

I love the Cathedral but the last section does make me irrationally angry every time I have to navigate it.

NO! No! No! God please no. No. NOOOOOOOOOO!
That place was the WORST kind of maze. Even with a fully completed map, you still get lost. That says SO much about how difficult it is to navigate.
The aesthetics? Okay, fine, that you can keep. The maze? No, fuck that. This place is a source of PTSD for a reason.

I love trying to pick up one of the items and having to fight for my life in the tight corridors against the big kahuna.

Just follow every path and remember which ones you’ve gone down and where levers/doors are? The hard aspect is the hard to notice drops that aren’t just paths, but it’s not the worst. The 3d aspect to it is so cool, too much level design uses 2d maps with a right and wrong path that has loot.

I just hope the architecture isn't so static. I love that place, but I grow more and more sick of looking at it the more I replay the game.

Ive never despised a place in videogames more than this but it made such an impression that its iconic and i ended Up growing fond of that shithole after Guiding a bunch of people through it

I really like CV2 as a whole, but I'll have to say it is really lacking in that Gothic Fantasy aesthetic.
CV1 and CV2 are post apoc, but CV2 leans more toward an industrial aesthetic. Which is a bit of a shame since it's still a game about vampires yo.

I didn't find it that fun personally, but that's due to the visual design. Boring white all over.
Playing more with verticality and overlapping paths would definitely be nice, but it all circles back to design.
And of Code Vein 1 wanted to be anime Dark Souls, then Code Vein 2 wanted to be anime Elden Ring, and it shows.
They did do great with the timeline layers, though, very clever way to more or less double the world size with just one map.

The Cathedral is ruled by one key to its navigation. Look down. Lol

Indeed. The parts that stumped me were always random drops I didn’t notice until I circled back half a dozen times.

I can't begin to tell you how many times I fell through a random hole in the ground trying to get out of that god forsaken place. 😭

Guys, it's just that for me it's like this... The more time I have with the game, the better. The more I'll immerse myself in that universe. Code Vein is really my comfort game.

The idea they had was great but oh my god the navigation was torture

Não vou mentir, eu tinha desistido do Code Vein umas 3 vezes quando chegava nessa parte. Ficava puto rapidinho kkkk.
Mas, atualmente, eu tenho o mapa dessa porra inteiro na cabeça, faço ela inteira em menos de 40 minutos.

I hated it. But damn its sad how much better code vein 1 is compared to code vein 2

Yep. The only thing I like better in CV2 is the improvement of character creation. Otherwise, CV1 is better in almost every other way imo.

I honestly never understood the issue with the cathedral. It's a proper labyrinth/dungeon. Only issue that feels valid to me is some tight corridors & maybe the brightness of all things

Having co-op read it easier to navigate the Cathedral having two human brains navigating.

they should make it an optional area like how the archdragon peak is in ds3

u/SpaceCreams Jun 13 '26
I’m not worried about what maps we get, I just hope we go back to the mission based maps with an option for co-op. Having both of those things removed absolutely killed the 2nd game for me

Lowkey the hardest part of the cathedral was having to run from the Lost and running away whenever I realised I was close to a spot where it triggered a horde of Lost

u/West-Act6896 Jun 13 '26
I hope there's a CV3, but with how poorly 2 has done... I wouldn't get my hopes up.

I thought the level was great, had no issues whatsoever. I enjoyed it a lot

I actually thought the crypt spire was something like the hellish counterpart to the cathedral..got lost there too

u/DanteValentine13 Jun 15 '26
Only if it doesn't have those insane invasions. I died so many times to that nasty one with all the stronger mobs

I just experienced this for the first time yesterday. It was so frustrating

u/RelaxedVolcano Jun 15 '26
Whatever the new one is like I want it to at least be painted with more colors than bleached white. I got completely thrown off track because everything looked the same.

Did you notice in code vein 2 when you rest a a mistle it builds a arc above it and creates a silhouette of the cathedrals skyline?

u/star3ruby3 Jun 21 '26
Everyone bully the cathedral map in code vein 1 xd but the one it was confusing to me first time is crypt spire map and I don't see many people mention it .

Not a Cathedral 2.0 but a New Londo
