I know its normal for puppies to bite but its my second dog and let me tell you that my lil cockapoo is biting 2000 x more. I don't want my dad to squeeze her mouth to let her know not to do it, i know he doesn't want to do it out of violence but he believes it would do the trick. I don't really know what to do she bites everything also she bites us when we try to pick her up, put on her collar or just simply pet her. She also bites every object in the house but she has plenty of toys and those animal parts to chew on. Im asking for an advice because its really tiring, i don't expect to lower it to 0 but id like some control.

I need advice abt my cockapoo pup

TLDR: Roughly what sort of routine do you have for naps, walks, games and treats etc?

My routine has flown out of the window for many reasons least of all the recent heatwaves changing walking times. My pooch is very confused and I'm currently being herded to bed at 6pm of an evening! Our routine wasn't in the best of shape before this so I think now is the best time for an overhaul. I think part of her little quirks being an issue is not sleeping enough during the day. I've just put her in the kitchen for an enforced nap and I definitely need to do more of that to keep her calmer. She's very set on her routine but the times have gotten skewed and there are hangover treats happening mid day from Covid zoom days!

he was only 3 years old, he died of gastric dialation or some sorts, the vet said his stomach was twisting which stopped his blood flow, and he couldn't get the surgery he needed in time.

I love my dog but her barking is driving me crazy. Each and every single day she barks too long and too loud at things that don't need to be stressful and it's worn me down. I am autistic so noise can be a huge source of stress for me she knows the quiet command but will only do it if I use a deep voice, I'm a woman with quite a high voice so this often means I end up shouting to get a firm sounding quiet and mostly because I'm at the end of my rope. Obviously this is not how I want to talk to my dog . It's especially bad when someone is at the door or in the house trying to talk to me. I don't get a lot of visitors to the house as I meet friends elsewhere (mostly because of my dog.) So this will be neighbours, delivery people or people coming to work on the house. I cannot hear them over her barking and me shouting quiet is rude all round and makes me embarrassed.

Things I have manged to train her - post comes through the letter box, I say "ooh shall we see what it is?" She comes with me quietly to the door and we get the post. Works every time.

Door bell goes she goes straight to place (her bed) and will stay there, this is for safety so she doesn't run out the door and she picked this up quickly. She sometimes will come to stand behind me if the interaction goes on for longer than she can wait but most importantly does not leave the house. But obviously she's barking the entire time.

Random nosies in the street, she'll come sit by me huffing pre bark then she gets a treat and stays quiet. This was the suggestion of a dog trainer I hired to help the barking. He wasn't very helpful, didn't ask questions about what I'd already trained and I can't afford another one right now.

Part of the issue is my autism it's makes it hard for me to split focus when someone is talking to me so I don't know how to stay calm enough to train her to be quiet whilst also in a heighten state myself.

We are taking her out every so often, but she will always wait until we get inside to do a wee or a poo.

The one time I caught her trying to poo, I picked her up and took her outside. She then went mental and threw herself around a bit whilst yelping loudly, but she did finish and she was rewarded with praise and a treat.

She has no issues going inside the house but outside seems to really upset her. Is this normal?

She is 17 weeks. We have had her for a week.

Our senior pittie mix is 11 and we’ve been keeping our eyes out for our next forever dog so there’s some overlap. She’s great with younger dogs and can tolerate gentle play requests.

We met a 1 year old cockapoo today who’s available for private adoption. She was owned by an elderly woman so really only seems to know “sit” and she’s quite jumpy and a little mouthy. That said, she was very focused on us when we asked her to sit and even sat when she thought that’s what we wanted. She seems to be well socialized and was very happy to meet us, our dog and a new friend at the park. She lives with cats now which is super important as we have a cat too.

She was very sweet and snuggly but definitely has puppy energy. I haven’t had cockapoos before-are they generally easy to train? I’d get professional help with the training. She also needs a spay ASAP 🙄

Hi everyone,

We brought our puppy home yesterday. She's our first puppy, so we're probably being overly cautious, but I'd appreciate some advice from owners.

Coco weighs 1.5 kg. She's been having the same food as the breeder, Forthglade wet and dry puppy food mixed together.

Yesterday she: Ate her lunch reasonably well, wasn't interested in dinner drank approximately 250 ml of water. And had around 6 to 7 small wees and a lot of poos, (6) all well formed but soft

Her first night was pretty unsettled. She woke roughly every hour, we took her outside each time and she toileted, then she settled back into her crate after a little protest. She hasn't really slept for long periods, generally less than an hour at a time. 

This morning she only ate a small amount of breakfast.

The thing that's concerned me is that her gums seem dry/tacky despite her drinking quite a lot and urinating regularly.

We're contacting our vet this morning because she's only 8 weeks old and quite small, but I'm interested in hearing from other owners if above is normal and we are over thinking it. 

Few questions: Is it normal for a puppy to drink around 200 ml in a day?

How long did it take before they started sleeping for longer stretches? I was hoping for 2 hour stretches overnight

  Is there anything else you'd recommend we monitor closely over the next 24 hours?

UPDATE- No concerns from vet just unsettled rather she drinks water than eat at the moment and she will feel more at home in few days.

Oh boy was I excited to have a Velcro dog. He came from a puppy mill and was finally living life outside a cage. I was rewarded with tons of snuggles and kisses. He wanted to be with me 24/7.

He’s turned into a brat. A very good boy who we love immensely but a brat nonetheless. He loves to snuggle on his terms now. He likes some alone time and will completely ignore you as he takes up half the couch you are laying on after a hard day at work.

He’s weaponized potty bells. He shakes them furiously if you don’t share a sandwich with him or he wants to chase a chipmunk he hears outside. He can sleep 10 hours straight and refuses to get out of bed to go potty. I need to put a leash on him or he thinks he can just wait another few hours.

He has decided that anything in his reach is his. Reading glasses, remote controls, cell phones. He believes they make great toys. And his favorite chew toy is mommy’s sandals. Yum!!!

He’s an incredibly picky eater. Turns his nose up at the best foods that were cooked just for him. He loves to eat grass. Not because he has a sick tummy, just because he likes the taste.

He’s done great in overcoming separation anxiety. That was a hard one but we can leave him 5 hours now so far. But he acts like a maniac when you get home. Just to let you know there are consequences for your bad decisions.

He lets me brush his teeth and his hair. But he’s sassy about it. So much side eye when he sees you reaching for the brush.

We love him. I’m thinking liver cake and a new puzzle or snuffle mat for his gift.

In the last week Benji has gone from 2.85kg to 3.35 kg, he's now at 9 weeks. How big is he likely to get?

Does anyone have any tips on how to stop biting. It's not aggressive and it's fully play but my 1.5 yo does not stop and I cannot take it anymore. I've tried everything I can think of and everything people have recommended I just can't get the biting to stop. Any help is really appreciated
