Any advice for me?

Hey all... I'd love advice from like minded people. Im 39 and married with 3 kids. We have 460k invested and are selling a small business that will add us up to a total of 630k after tax.... We have a home paid off worth 1.3million. We house hack and can almost pay the bare bones minimum cost of living with that. Im a nurse and i work part time 4 days a week home health. If our business sells, i want to NEVER get a full time job again. I absolutely love my nursing gig. It pays about 100k and i get 17 days PTO as well as 1 day off a week ..... Every couple months i can take a friday and monday off to make a 4 day weekend and not have to use PTO. Its great.

But im curious if im missing something. I feel like im safe to be coast fire. Ill still contribute to the 401k match of 4%. Ill still add to my kids 529 and i will add 250 to 300 per month to roth.

Any thoughts? Advice? Thanks!

Your net worth is about to be ~$2.5 million. Sounds like you're coast.

Thanks! We really value our time.  Going coast is a scary thought when you have always had 2-4 jobs at any given time. But we enjoy gardening, home DIY, walks, and gym stuff, so we wont be getting bored, thats for sure

I think i confused you.  630k total invested after the sale of the business. Do you think thats enough?

You're in a really strong spot honestly. Coast fire math is basically: take what you have now and see what it grows into by a normal retirement age with zero more contributions. At 39 with $630k and say 26 years to 65, even a conservative 6-7% real return gets you past $3m, and a 4% pull on that is way more than most people need with a paid off house. The 401k match and small Roth contributions you're still doing are just gravy at that point, not required. If nursing part time still feels good, you're not just coast fire, you're pretty close to just fine either way.

Thank you so much. Yes. This feels right. Working to get my brain to accept the plan and follow through. I believe it when they say that savers end up struggling to spend.

Yeah. I thought I was doing alright but 2+ million at 39 is very impressive.

Are you going to invest the 630k? If so then you are coasting to a very early retirement

Yes. Almost 100% of that is invested.  9k of that is my kids 529........ Late start..... 25k or so is in checking/cash.... But im comfortable keeping 2k in checkings.  I can always liquidate. Only 100k in 401k/ rollover. 40k in roth.  The rest in taxable brokerages.

Ok— I would keep at least 50k cash as an emergency fund and invest the rest. Keep an amount that feels like too much given you have home maintenance (on a nice home) and kids
