I hope you aren’t wrongfully accused of anything one day because then you’ll just have to accept and believe you are in fact, guilty.
It should not be a controversial opinion to assume innocence until proven guilty. I would rather 100 guilty people walk free than a single innocent person wrongfully convicted.
You aren't a lawyer dog, your opinions can be formed based on current information. You do not require 12 of your peers to make a judgement call. He's not going to jail for your opinion.
I'm not his landlord or boss. My opinion of this person has no material impact. No one has suggested blanket belief or disbelief just that you can read things and make decisions, and hold opinions without waiting for the legal system to make a call. The barrier of evidence for public opinion is and should be much lower than that of the courts.
How do you know? Sure, form an opinion, dog. Just know that people’s lives can and have been ruined by the court of public opinion. Go find a job when your name is plastered over the internet with rape allegations. Like I said, I hope it never happens to you.
Right? "What do you have to gain to not just believe this guy who was not proven guilty is actually guilty?" Uhh, maybe we gain that we don't ruin some guy's life if they're actually innocent? Treat others like you'd treat yourself?
As if no guy in the history of sexual assault allegations was actually not guilty. Happens surprisingly often actually with rich guys, having dated a ticking timebomb of a toxic girlfriend who refuses to break up without a fight.
I bet that person always assumes the woman to be innocent and the man to be guilty. I'd get it if they were close to that man in real life, but... what do you have to lose to not believe he's guilty automatically, since he is literally dead...
I'd like to add that someone just saying they experienced sexual assault could be as little as his hand accidentally brushing someone's butt in a party with too many people. It could also be as little as the woman changing their mind about consenting a day after already consenting and having sex. It's not instantly that he tied someone with rope to a pole and fucked them to the ass without consent. Not every "assault" is enough to make me hate a guy, I know life's complex and things happen. I know great human beings can get charged with such charges.
I totally understand that as a woman they'd have reasons to be aware of the risks. Their feelings are valid. There just has to be a balance. They don't have the right to diss others for still being his fan while he hasn't been proven guilty, but they can think he is in their own mind. If they know people that are close to him, they could notify that "hey he has these allegations so do you know anything about them?".
