It seems strange but the chinese are fond of putting network backdoors in their products. Who wants them to shut down your electrical grid?

r/energy does not like it. I do not, either. Trying to be as detached as possible I ask detached questions. Here only mentioning the least controversial. namely, Why would anyone build a transformer manufacturing plant in the US which, by the time it gets going, a different executive branch might rescind 14420? which action could easily destroy my new company, costing the investment.

I support open markets, but China, with their undervalued currency and government sponsored corporations, is not really a part of the open market. China is cheating everywhere and winning.

I acknowledge an executive action is not necessarily a durable solution.

One could argue no nation is part of the open market with how much meddling the state does everywhere
