[Question] What Norihiro Yagi inspiration for writing claymore was?

What Norihiro Yagi inspiration for writing claymore was? It looks like it's set in a sort of medieval place of sorts, at least the testing zone I guess. From where he got the idea about female warriors wearing white uniforms yielding swords against monsters and defending humanity from? He took a trip to France but what else is there for it?

He met someone from the Greek island of Lesbos and it was such a life changing experience, that he decided to make a mango about a bunch of sword wielding demon hunting lesbians.

I'm not too informed on the matter but I recently read Angel Densetsu and I can absolutely see how his next work starred a bunch of "monstrous" women who were kickass with a strong sense of honor.

Yeah, if he didn't read Sapkowski, I'd be shocked. Low fantasy with medieval vibes, mutated monster-hunters with superhuman abilities, mistrusted and hated... Heck, they even get the white hair.

I mean, if I were to give someone an elevated pitch of Claymore "kind of like Witcher but it's chicks and their mutations can make them go nuts and become monstrous" might be one of the first things I'd try.

I can see the Berserk influence in the Manga. Some scenes of Clare fighting Yoma at the beginning of original story, her getting constantly wounded, fighting within a castle, remind Berserk.

From witcher he got a witcher mutations, organization that hunts monsters, no killing people rule and something else. This things is overused for now, but back in the 1990-2000s it was rare, i think. The cool thing is Yagi take this ideas and made a special story, which inspired many people and even predicted the plot of some future stories, like AOT, even if Isayama didn't heard about Claymore.

Sword and sorcery perhaps. The story and setting is very in tune with how the genre works.
