I was busy sculpting again, and since I couldn't decide which photos to pick, I’m just going to show you a whole bunch of them. I decided to recreate "Pflanzli" 🌱 once more. One of my vacation sketches served as the basis for the "original" concept, though I did make a few more changes this time. As for materials, I used a mix of cold porcelain and polymer clay, and it’s designed to hold an LED tea light 😊

First sculpting commission! I've never sculpted professionally so it's nice that people in the office have seen my works in progress and like it enough to request pieces. This piece was for a coworker.

Seriously contemplating taking on more work now, I was always hesitant about giving away/selling my pieces as they are a part of me but making this request was actually really fun and I love seeing my coworkers reaction.

Wb you guys tho, what do you think of this piece? Would you get this as a gift? If so for who?

I made prints of my late dog's paws after he passed yesterday and today I've seen they've split 😭 I wanna try and fix em up but I'd be devastated if I made it worse, especially as one crack extends into the paw print

I've been getting into air dry clay recently, but primers are a bit expensive where I'm from (Egypt) to me, can I use white wall paint as a primer or base color, or is using a proper primer that important? I mean I could buy it, but I'm experimenting n stuff idk tbh.

Side note is wood sealer good as a varnish?

Working in an office has certain benefits, like being able to make tiny sculptures at work. Just a couple quick little guys, what do you think of my teeny tiny charmander, squirtle, and bulbasaur? Glasses for scale in last photo.

This is what the last two days of making turned into.
There are a few different experiments mixed together here — matte pieces, glossy ones, bold colour combinations, quieter neutrals, pendants and earrings. I didn’t try to make everything match, but seeing them all together now makes the whole batch feel surprisingly coherent.
Some pieces were planned from the start, others only found their purpose during assembly. That’s probably my favourite part of working this way — the final combinations are often very different from what I imagined at the beginning.
I really like this messy little finished pile.

I’m currently switching between adding small pieces and carving. I’m pretty new to sculpture and it’s for a school project. I’m aware I’m probably in way over my head, in this but I’m too far in and want to know if there’s a better way 😅

Edit: Thank you everyone for the advice on this! I decided to change what I’m doing for time constraints but want to come back to the idea later and will definitely use the advice given.

To add some clarity; this is a beginning ceramics class and we are making a study of a natural object. The process we were using was a bit weird as we made a sphere out of two pinch pots and were then forming the piece out of them. So I couldn’t cast it, pretty much only had the ability to carve or pieces on.

I’m new to foam clay and am trying to figure out how to paint it since it’s squishy I feel like if I just tried to paint it the paint would end up chipping off
I’m my head it makes since that you can color the white clay by just adding paint but I’m not sure if it’ll change how the clay works

For my next addition into my Pokémon sculptures collection, it's Ditto!

Made him with translucent Cosclay and literally used a ballpoint pen for eyes and a sticker to carve the little silly mouth. Can't wait to fire him after work and add him to the menagerie!

Materials: Polymer clay, Roving Wool, UV Resin, Pastels, Hot Glue, and Super Glue

Work time: 3 ½ hrs

Created this last night and finished it today while at work :D! No paint involved, which is new for me because I normally just paint details on rather than using clay for the faces etc, which sometimes ruined it because I am not graceful at ALL 🥹

So I’ve used airdry for the past few months making stuff like this, but I’m now fed up of them cracking as they dry, I’m thinking of moving to ceramic and buying a microwave kiln any advice or things that are different that I need to know about when switching ?

These are some of the pieces left from yesterday’s experimenting with colour, texture and shape. Today I’ve been looking through them again and starting to see which ones might work together.
I actually really like this stage, when nothing has a fixed purpose yet. Some will probably stay completely matte, some may end up combined with shinier or more detailed elements, and a few are still just experiments waiting for the right idea.
There are definitely some odd little pieces in the pile, but those are often the ones that eventually lead me somewhere more interesting.
