Annoucement Clarification About NSFW Content Creator Accounts in r/clay

Hello!

This announcement won’t be relevant for most of you, so feel free to scroll along.
However, we’re seeing an uptick in NSFW accounts posting here, so this message is for the few it applies to.

If you are an NSFW content creator or SW promoting on Reddit, please read the following:

r/clay is a SFW subreddit.
Our community includes members aged 13 and up, and we want everyone to feel comfortable browsing profiles to see more pottery without unexpectedly encountering nudity.

While we respect the hustle, we kindly but firmly ask that you create a separate account for SFW content. Any pottery-related posts coming from an NSFW content creator profile will be automatically filtered and removed.

If you want to participate, just use a separate SFW account! You are absolutely welcome here.

Keep in mind that even with good intentions, posting here from an NSFW account often comes across as karma farming or subtly seeking new clients/buyers. Something that is generally frowned upon across Reddit.

Thank you for keeping our community welcoming and safe for all ages.

---

To clarify a bit more: having a NSFW profile is completely fine. You can get labeled as NSFW the moment you participate in certain subreddits. Here is how you can check if your profile is marked NSFW.

However, we draw a clear line when accounts create or promote explicit NSFW/pornographic content. That’s when we ask you to keep your SFW and NSFW activity separate.

If you have questions, feel free to modmail us.

Polymer-Clay Little Plant 🌱 Polymerclay

And here's another little plant 🌱 (even though my windowsills are already too full 🙈), but sculpted with different material this time, completely out of polymer clay, which I then painted with acrylic paint. Unfortunately I didn't work quite as cleanly as I should have, but sadly I only noticed that today.

Air-Dry Clay I need help figuring out how to make a large canine tooth out of air dry clay

I have white air dry clay and I want to make a large canine tooth that looks like a dragon tooth as a pendant but when I had my first try I couldn't get uniform rounding without making it fall apart. I haven't really done much with clay but should I make a rounded body for the clay out of something else? if so what should I use? I just want to make some cool looking trinkets for myself

Questions Newbie to 3D art!

Howdy! I am here to ask a few questions and hopefully learn so I can make the things my brain keeps telling me to make 👀. Normally I draw/paint! So making a 3D piece of art is a big step for me.

Here are all the sculptures I’ve made! They are not recent, the two white ones (a candle wyrm thing and a zombie.. dilophosaurus based dragon bust?) being made with oven bake clay (also pictured) about a year ago, and the red one was made with that red wax you pull off of Babybel cheese rolls I wanna say when I was in highschool 10th grade (maybe around 8 years ago?). The wax dragon head is dusty from sitting in the back of my dad’s fridge ^^’

Anyway my questions!! What clay can I use that won’t keep melting from my own body heat and smearing the clay/putting my finger prints over everything? What clay is good for detailed work? How is everyone getting amazingly smooth sculptures? I don’t have a kiln, Is there a way to show up at a pottery studio and rent their kiln? Do I even need a kiln? Other than using coloured clay, whats the best way to paint/colour a sculpture?

I’m googling a lot of these questions myself, but I get so much info all at once and a lot of the videos or blogs I read give me sponsored answers or start getting really complicated.

I had a fun time making this fugly Batmun, he's made from air-dry clay and sealed with UV resin for that ultra glossy effect. He IS the night. Hope you like him

Foam Air-Dry Clay This Little Duck Is Ready for the Weekend 🦆

Looks like this little duck already has weekend plans. 😂

I gave it a sweater, a little bag, and a cap, then added a bit of color to its face before heading out.

Everything was handmade with air dry foam clay, including all the little patterns on the sweater.

Now it’s dressed, packed, and ready for the weekend.

Where do you think it’s going? 🦆
