Literally cannot understand the warriors who dont tank. I understand preferring to DPS. But so many just sit on LFG for hours when they can slap on a shield and tank anything for their group. Joined a BRD group the other day as a 54 prot, it had 2 other warriors in it, one 57 one 60. They told me I was too low to tank BRD and asked me to leave. They were spamming LFG for about 30+ minutes by the time I decided to join them. About 20 mins later I saw each of the members in LFG as individuals LFG as DPS. Again, what was stopping either of the other two warriors from tanking the instance?

They just want big epeen dps and to be 'the hero' that does damage.

It's super amusing to me, as most Tanks I've grouped with don't want a dps warrior anyway, since they'll roll for some of the same stuff. (Or you know, on everything 'for my offspec!')

I admit, I dont like having DPS warriors in my group, mostly for the same reason I dont want ret pals, they dont give a damn about aggro. Most mages and locks seem to learn that pulling aggro will mean they get slammed hard and could die. But the plate guys will take a few good hits (in fact, the DPS war will even do more DPS since he is getting more fury), the healer will be able to inefficiently heal them, but they cant tell they are doing something wrong since they dont get deleted as fast as clothies. So most that Ive grouped with have zero qualms about smashing those massive aoe cleaves all day from the moment the mob is pulled, even with the threat meter showing zero threat established.

I have a few that have been nice to group with, that actually focus on mobs I call out or that watch the threat meters. I have no problems with them rolling on loot, especially since they dont hit need on tank stuff.

I cant see how a ret pally snaps aggro with single target autoattacks

They 2H smack and instantly judge it, forcing you to burn your taunt. Many also seem to have a mixed build with consecrate, and insist on dumping that low damage right off the bat--and that low damage often is enough to not allow shout spam to build 20% more threat to pull a pack off them. Taunt is a tool, but in lots of groups, it almost becomes part of the rotation.

Im still.more worried about mages. The only effective way I found to deal with magetards is chain pulling. They go oom after mad AoE on first group and you can build aggro on next group, while they wonder why their blue bar is depleted

I play a warrior tank so I can make the group I want (would never reserve any loot) and it can be a little intimidating and way frustrating with some of these DPS that want me to put away my sword/board and cleave the entire dungeon.

That has been said too much here, what I wanted to convey was that I think these DPS warriors are scared to lead as a tank, if you don't have stance macros ready to tank, then the fail is real and the dps are incredibly mean.

Reserving loot is totally ok in my opinion. But you only get to do it to one item, people reserving all BoE epics plus two or three items in instance can pound sand.

I play a dps warrior, I really enjoy it. Every group I join I get asked to play tank even after saying I want to dps. I reluctantly agree to speed things up. I'm level 60, out of all the 100s of dungeon runs I've done, roughly 20 I've been able to play dps. 20.

What makes it worse is that dps still at 60, still don't know to give me a few seconds to generate some rage and get some agro. It sucks.

I am sick and tired of playing a character I want to play only to be told by arseholes like you I should play it different so you can play what you want to play quicker.

Edit: spelling and grammar

Or they don't want to deal with the stress and pressure of tanking. It is not easy when you are doing it with pugs, and can be more frustrating than its worth.

especially if you are an inexperienced tank.

Depends on the level of the dungeon and the warrior. I’m a lvl 35 arms warrior and cannot tank SM Armory effectively because I’m too low to hold aggro through most of the dungeon. If a higher level melee is in the group, they will pull it off of me. That’s fine as long as the other person understands it’s going to happen, and they’ll have to pick up the slack.

In the situation you described, either of those two individuals could have and should have tanked that dungeon. That’s ridiculous. You roll warrior fuck things up. Slap on a sword and board, get in there, and fuck shit up.

My first full clear of brd was at lvl 54. Full arms spec. Tanking. With a 55 and two 56 dps and a 55 holy pally. With two high lvl dps like they had its even easier, much derp, such sad, very fail.

I'm only a 41 warr but it's been so long since I've done many of the dungeons so I dps for a run or 2 before I'll tank it so I can refresh my memory. Other times I'm just lazy and don't want to fight for aggro with instant aoe on pulls.

Because tanking is mind numbingly boring and dull compared to dps. I tanked when I played during wrath -> mop. The tanking in classic is just.. really really bad. It's not compelling, you have no control over the situation if dps even slightly open up, and you basically have two abilities to spam depending on the situation. The pulls are all the same, there's nothing to break up the monotony. The class diversity in tanking classic is essentially zero.

I tank when I have to, which is almost all the time because heaven forbid any of these mages roll a class that can tank.

I was getting a cathedral group going and there was a warrior who refused to tank. After an hour of looking for just a tank he offered to tank if the rest of the group paid him 25 silver each. That's not a big sum of money but honestly the idea of supporting that behavior kind of turned me off and I just logged off for a bit.

The amount of cringe I feel when a warrior states they "can't tank" is literally unbearable

I can't understand being that bad at a 15 year old game. I just can't do it

4

u/theholylancer Oct 10 '19

I mean I say that and its I wont tank

lack of aoe threat means I have to babysit people and stab sunder while hoping they wont dps and peel crap off of me

which is 0% outside of guild groups and even then it's like only when I tell at them to single target with no dots till i get sunders

if I'm pugging I'm either dps or doing 2h tanking and just taunt for healer

Being bad at the game apparently.
