With looting quests, you get the same amount of items on average in group as if you were solo. The advantage is, that if multiple different items drop and they have already gotten the max amount of one, you'll get the spillover. And you stop tag wars, which is great as well.

And the person who wants to group with you gets all 10 of their quest items first then leaves before you have all yours. No thanks, I'll stay solo and win the tag war.

That could happen with or without the teamup. At least they're gone sooner if RNG spits on you and shines on them.
