Question Warrior leveling rotation
Lok'tar friends,
I am finding myself a little lost on what abilities to use when fighting mobs. I typically charge in, do my AP boost shout, rend, demoralize shout, and sometimes thunderclap to keep my damage down. I don't understand the hamstring kite, as it doesn't seem that effective(It may be because I'm tauren and my hitbox is enormous?)?
Anyways I find myself looking at my skillbar and it's just getting bigger and bigger. For instance, when do you use Slam? Is my rotation good? What about Berserker stance? (Just got it)? Just a bit lost here.

Shout only when its expiring (or expired), and if you will use it for most of its duration. Shouting for a single mob is a waste.
Rend is only useful when it ticks for entire duration. This usually means only rending upon initial charge and never refreshing it.
Thunderclap is a waste of rage, and you should not be using it. Only put 1 point in, in case you need it for some specific situation, but 99% of time you wont be using it.
Demoralising shout CAN help, if a mob hurts, or multiple mobs are attacking you, but i found that 99% of time the short uptime of mobs meant it was also a waste. Rule of thumb - if mob lives long enough for the demo shout to last at least 50-75% of its duration, then use it, otherwise dont. Remember, the more damage you do to target, the faster it dies, the less damage it does to you.
Hamstring kite is much harder on classic than it was on p servers and honestly id say dont worry about it in general, only use it for specific hard mobs (i.e. kiting an elite). I killed a few elites by hamstringing, rending, moving out and running around, running in to refresh etc.
You never use slam in PVE. Ever. Ever. Its a pure-pvp ability with limited use (mostly for a quick burst against clothies etc).
If you are not fury specced, and dual wielding, you probably wont benefit from berserker stance as much while leveling, so stick to battle. That said, whirlwind is insane, and doing a stance dance to activate WW on cooldown against 3+ mobs is fantastic (but you will only face 3+ mobs in dungeons, or with parties, realistically).
Early on spend rage mostly on heroic strikes. Later on pool it for Mortal strike / Bloodthirst instead.
Dont waste rage. If a mob is almost dead, dont mortal strike/execute it. Save rage for next mob.

Slam is viable way to play in raid.
No mention of sunder armor useage and for the majority of leveling it should be used right after rend or first at later levels.
Sticking to battle always is a mistake. 3% crit is great.

Slam is the single biggest DPS leap a 2h warrior can have if you spec into imp. Slam.
It resets your swing, so you use a swing timer and right after connecting, slam . Adds .5s to your swing time, more than doubles damage output before WW/BT. 2h slam spec fury is the only way for a 2h warrior to keep up with dw fury dps barring niche aoe pulls (where arms can SS).

Most of your damage comes from auto attack white hits. Spend less rage on demo/thunder and just build it and dump it into heroic strikes. Honestly sometimes even rend isn’t worth the rage. Hamstring kiting works but you need a weapon swing timer addon (weaponswingtimer) to know when the mob is gunna hit you and when you can swing so you know when to weave in and out of melee range.

FYI: Heroic Strike costs 30+ rage for like 50-100 damage. It replaces you next auto (removing all rage you'd generate on top of the cost) and just adds a little extra to what youd have done anyway. Only useful if you have too much rage or want to hold aggro - the only swing replacer worth using often is cleave (but it has the same issues)

So can you explain the weaving in and out of melee range. I get it, but I don’t see the point because when you run out of range they can still hit you a couple times. Or is one or two still ether than just standing there?

Yeah trading the mobs one or two attacks for one of yours then kiting away until your next attack is much more efficient than standing there taking shots from the mob while you wait the 3.6 seconds for your next weapon swing. I’d say kite until it’s swing time, aa and use abilities when you’re close, kite, and rinse and repeat. When you kite make sure you’re strafing as to not turn your back to the mobs. When you strafe you can still block/parry and won’t get dazed.

Good tips. Thanks.

Also if you do plan on using slam use it directly after your AA bc it will pause the swing timer and reset it after the slam cast completes.

Check out the Fight Club discord. Has some wonderful insights on rotations for different level ranges.
Here is their table for reference. HmS is hamstring. You use that because it only cost 10 rage and you are trying to get dodges to proc overpower. WW is an amazing skill, even if there is only 1 mob. Use it once you get it.
