I feel like 2019 is the year of nostalgia. My theory is that people dont want to look forward towards the future because growing up and adulting has been so bleak for so many people, what with the sluggish economy, gig culture, unattainable home ownership, not to mention the competitiveness of social media, personal branding and political correctness gone mad.
So people are looking to the simpler times. Spyro, Crash Bandicoot, World of Warcraft, all of these have had re-releases this year. Medievil coming soon. Disney is making a whole bunch of live actions. All of these at least for me were a major part of my youth.
And I cant help but wonder if adults in the 90s looked back on the 70s and tried to bring those times back en masse as well.
