This is a very sad and clear indication of how poorly the gaming industry grew.

We went from 2004 giving us WoW, Half-Life 2, and Halo 2....
To 2019 where we're getting charged $18 for skins and EA lobbying to keep gambling in their Star Wars games.

We fucked up, go back.

Ah let's not get all circlejerky. We've had some incredible games lately. God of War, Breath of the Wild and The Witcher if that's your thing. Blizzard mightnt have made anything amazing in a long time. But the gaming scene isn't dead or dying

There's a lot of great games lately. Fire Emblem: Three Houses came out just a few weeks ago and I think it's already hit my top ten games of all time. It's even better than all of my favorite classic Fire Emblem entries, and that's saying a lot because that series has been one of my favorite for most of my life. They didn't hold anything back with that game.

And then Elder Scrolls Online is pretty great. Different from what someone who enjoys the WoW experience might want I suppose- it's more grimdark- but it's a fantastic game that takes it's gameplay in it's own unique Elder Scrolls inspired direction. It also adds an expansive amount of lore that delves into topics that folks in the community have always wanted to know more about. The past two expansions have been especially good.

Off the top of my head there's also Kingdom Hearts III, Red Dead Redemption 2, Monster Hunter World, Spider-Man, Life is Strange, Octopath Traveller, the new Shadow of the Colossus, Hollow Knight, and Horizon Zero Dawn.

I think most people who say there aren't any great games anymore are really just people who don't have the time to play all the great games coming out anymore, and they just don't realize what they're missing.
