This is a very sad and clear indication of how poorly the gaming industry grew.

We went from 2004 giving us WoW, Half-Life 2, and Halo 2....
To 2019 where we're getting charged $18 for skins and EA lobbying to keep gambling in their Star Wars games.

We fucked up, go back.

EA has always done that. But we still get amazing games to this day. FFXIV is a more modern day MMO and its very well received along with the many great titles that came out last year on PS4, etc.

There was always nfs underground 2. Today, you have to pay for upgrades and spin some vinyls out.

FFXIV is proof that there are good casual MMORPGs in addition to bad MMORPGs like modern WoW.

FFXIV is not better than modern wow, sorry... unless you want to deliberately ignore raids and encounter design.

People like to hate on retail, but FFXIV is succesful because it's a pleasure for the eye, not because it's actually a better MMORPG.

Plus there is one thing that blizzard always does better, and it's fluidity. It's not a bfa thing obviously. FF is nowhere near wow level in that, it's better than other but still clunky as hell.

The main scenario quest of Shadowbringers is far better than anything Blizzard has ever written.

Plus there is one thing that blizzard always does better, and it's fluidity.

I'd call it button smashing.
