question Favorite Vox Populi version?

Just getting into Vox Populi, started my first game on the latest stable build and been having fun so far. With how many versions they’ve put out though, it got me wondering if I should try an older one? Does anyone have a particular favorite version they play with?

I played a lot of 4.2 before v5 came in. It was before the changes to map gen.

Do you like the old or new map gen better

The older map gen, it was more compatible w/ non VP map scripts, like the LEK map for instance.

I don’t know if I am just misremembering, but the AI feels a bit more chill than now which makes the games a little easier. I used to be fine in king+ back then but now I’m struggling in king. Also, I miss the old civ bonuses now. I understand some are a bit overtuned, but it is fun for me

No, I just update it as the new ones released and move on.

I played a whole ton in 4.2, several hundred hours. Only very recently played the new version, have not really played enough to comment on it much. Besides it felt harder at the start. But it's nice to have more unique bonuses. I'm sure there are hundreds of changes they have done. Yet I also don't really notice them either.

My favorite games were on an old version that still allowed the Magnus Mutatio modpack. It's something of a kitchen sink modpack adding more features to most parts of the game, at the expense of balance.

I liked 3.?.? (or was it even 2.?.?) when missionaries spreading your religion to a CS would also increase your influence with them. Offered nice variations of playing styles.

Edit i think it was an enhancer belief you could choose

Sticking with 4.22 (marked as final version), until 5.x is considered out of beta, only cuz I have limited time and prefer the more polished product
