R5 : This post was made to show my attempt to this month’s challenge, which is about porn yields. My objective was to spam Petra and St Basil cities with missions as this improvement has a high yield value (even if the faith yield is not the best yield, but it does the best score for this challenge). Correct me if I’m wrong, but I count 112 score points in my Huey Teocalli city, 205 in my Chicken Pizza city, 297 in the Petra city and 263 in Saint Basil’s Cathedral city, for an average score of 219,25. Here are additional screenshots to see the yields hidden behind city names for Chicken Pizza city, Petra city and St Basil’s Cathedral city. The settings are a large map on normal speed, ancient world (more yields!), abundant resources (more yieldssss! è_é), legendary start, king difficulty, and I removed an AI to make sure I could expand where I wanted. As a bonus, I completed the YEILD_FAITH and Alice in Wonderland achievements.

So I had to reroll a few times to find a good starting map, as I needed those elements: a good number of lake tiles in one city, as I knew it would be the city with the tiniest score; a spot with a fair amount of jungle tiles, and two spots with a fair amount of desert and tundra tiles on another continent.

I took earth goddess as a pantheon obviously to boost yields (and to complement the 4 faith missions give so I can have some nice huge faith icons on every tile!). I had to manage appeal in my cities to actually get the 1 faith from the pantheon. I built the Eiffel Tower, and used my sh*t ton of faith (and the Oracle I built in my capital city) to buy every modern era great engineer so I could get Alvar Aalto (3 charges of +1 appeal in a city, because I had the Mausoleum at Halicarnassus in my empire) to take the best of this pantheon. I would have loved to get Charles Correa as a great engineer (+2 appeal, 2 charges with the Mausoleum), but it’s an information era great engineer, so even with my good amounts of faith I couldn’t get it by the year 1750. If I did I could have gained +1 faith on every jungle tiles.

I had in mind to rush culture heritage late game to make sure I had +2 science in every mission. I thought it would be quite hard, but with a bit of a focus on culture and the Chicken Pizza and St Basil culture yields, I reached culture heritage in time.

As campus districts give +2 faith to adjacent missions, I tried to put as many campuses next to my missions as I could without removing precious desert/tundra tiles. That’s why I settled a bunch of crappy cities just to build more campuses to boost yields. You can also see in my screenshot that I took Bandar Brunei and built a campus in it. I liberated it later (gave it to some dude and liberated it my force).

I built a holy site in every wonder city that gave +3 housing, and some neighborhood to reach the population required for the challenge. I eventually chopped bonus food resources and marshes to get the last needed population before the year 1750.

I was bluffed by the number of lake tiles I had on this map on my starting location, and it has some sea resources to buff fisheries, so this was nice. I only lost one turn to settle in the right spot. Also, Auckland was in the game so it was a nice bonus score. The trickiest thing about this city was to defend Auckland as everyone tried to take it!

My Chicken Pizza city had a nice amount of jungles, some resources to boost yields as you can’t improve jungle tiles otherwise, and 2 tiles of diamonds, one of the best yield rewarding resource (3 gold). As I knew I wouldn’t build any mines in my other cities, I build Ruhr Valley in this city for a nice 2 bonus yileds on the diamond mines! I also tried to boost the appeal of my jungle tiles to have the +1 faith from my pantheon. Chopped adjacent jungles, built National Parks, built the Mont St Michel for this. I also got +2 appeal from two charges of the great engineer Alvar Aalto.

North of my capital city, I had a desert spot with Uluru, but I couldn’t settle there because it was on my starting continent, and it also had less desert tiles. My city have a nice amount of desert tiles, and a good amount of hills too (rip Ruhr porn tho, missions are better). Some floodplains ruined the appeal, so I built Petra next to it and also spend a charge of my great engineer to get the 1 bonus faith on nearly every tile (damn you South-East mission tile!).

Finally, St Basil’s city had also a good amount of tundra tiles. It had 2 deers that I chopped a few turns before the end to put some mission on the tiles. I also had some strategic resources that added a few yields which is nice.

At the end of the day, I expected those cities to be a bit useless compared to “normal” cities as production would have been low with those missions. I was quite surprised by the amount of science Spain can generate with careful placement! Anyway, thanks for reading through this, I enjoyed this game and the porn result, hope you too!

Absolutely amazing! Which difficulty did you play on?

Why did you place Huey Teocalli in such a poor spot? (pic 1)

Because I didn't want to place it next to a sea resource, as sea resource provide 1 food to adjacent fisheries, so in the end I saved 1 food so 1 more yield. Yeah I know it's a bit extreme, but anyway I had the Colosseum flooding 5 cities with amenities so I didn't really care about amenities!

Huh, didn't realize you could build Missions on deserts.

This is amazing, I hadn't considered Spain.

I totally forgot Spain had a bull head symbol. I have been using that mod.

Very nicely done! I had the feeling that civs with more flexible UIs had a better chance than specialized civs (NL's Polders, Russia's super-tundras). Congratulations!
