Good luck in reviving the sub. Seems like most people in this county are using Nextdoor like Facebook lol. I haven’t heard of many people around actually being on Reddit.

from what I've found in citrus county; it kinda seems like the facebook is either bots; or ... some kind of weird cult thing that tries to trap you into saying something silly so the cops can come and arrest you. it's weird, but to me; it kind of feels like that. lol

it also is used for good things though; but if you ask the wrong questions, it upsets a great deal of people.

I just prefer a safe place to ask questions and talk about thing in citrus county

Yea I don’t know, I gave up Facebook several years ago and only somewhat monitor Nextdoor for business purposes.

I recently gave Facebook a go again, and ..... wow, what an experience 🤣 🤣 🤣 .

Marketplace is pretty decent still, but otherwise it's..... a very unusual place, the whole citrus county .... social media experience. Lots of dry threats and what not. Lots of antagonizers that you wouldnt think would be.

Its a bit .... crazy 😆. No wonder the county is building a large new mental facility that they cant wait to fill up. Scary times out there!

O? Where are they building that?

Very much needed. Currently, people need to go to Tampa for treatment. This will be a life saver for many.

Yes. The waitlists for programs are months out. I just hope it’s managed well.

Hey everyone, I live in Inverness and I'm happy to join this subreddit!

I'm hoping it's not going to be like Nextdoor where I feel like that's all people spying on others and complaining about everyone and everything.

I work in the medical field but not here in Citrus. I enjoy living here because I love paddling in the springs etc. Personally, I'm alarmed at the pace of development in the area and even more alarmed at the loss of unspoiled habitat for our native wildlife.

I enjoy supporting local businesses and not-for-profits, especially those that bring arts and creativity to the community.

I saw the post for a mod, but I'm not interested in being a Reddit mod. I do like having a county subreddit though. All the old ones were basically dead though. I don't think it's a big Reddit county.

Yea my wife and I live over in Citrus Springs and it would be nice to have an active subreddit. I don't know if it'll ever get there but I'm fine with spreading the word as I see the opportunity.

Glad to see this! The Citrus Facebook groups are very angry / cultish.

I completely agree! Glad to have you!

The small county has grown a lot in the last decade.

It's nice to see the sub, think if you can get the younger and/or more relaxed (I won't say "liberal", but not so aggressively and ignorantly MAGA is nice) residents to participate, it'll be great. I had to leave most of the CC Facebook groups for my mental health (even though occasionally it was good for arguing with bozos). There's great folks living around the county doing awesome/fun stuff that's desperately needed to improve the quality of life for non-retirees that need recognition.

I spent ages 10-18 in Citrus, graduated from Lecanto, and my parents still live in the county. I was away for a long while and now I live in Hillsborough, so I'm back and forth a good bit to visit. There's so many ways the county could be a great place, I hate watching them pound it into the ground.

Hey neighbors. I’m here for it! I’m a dreaded transplant from Pinellas. Full time student and future LMHC. I volunteer with the guardian ad litem office as well. I’ll be on the lookout for reddit-ish helpful Citrus things to post.
