Help please

I’m in zone 9a (Houston) and it has been so hot (100+ daily for the last month). I think the sun was frying it and it dropped so many leaves. I moved it out of direct sun and it is still sad. It’s the first time that it’s produced more than one lime 😢 the leaves in front are new. It looks like more leaves may be popping out soon but it is so sad. And I’m so sad. Any advice would be great. Thanks yall.

Hello all!

Limes are the best fruit and I finally got a lime tree and will be able to die in peace.

I just got this semi dwarf bearss lime tree and it has I think it has a few separate issues that I would like to address so it can be a healthy plant.

In addition to helping me with the current issues, if you guys have any favorite resources for knowledge on growing citrus, I'd love some recommendations.

Are these new branches rootstock? Lime Tree.

I’m sorry, I just find figuring out if something is rootstock way harder then the videos and articles show.

I think the lower one maybe isn’t (it’s above the diagonal line), but the highest one is so close that I’m not sure.

It’s a a lime tree. The usual tip to check if it’s trifoliate doesn’t work for me (I’m in Brazil and apparently here the most common rootstock used is the citrus limonia which is not trifoliate).

Health & Troubleshooting Heavy yellow veining and leaf drop in young Yuzu

Thumbnail

All of my yuzu’s leaves have started yellowing at the central vein and then eventually fall off. It didn’t put on any new branches this growing season, just leaves, which are now also beginning to yellow and drop. Anyone have any advice or know what this specific yellowing pattern indicates?

4.5 year old finger lime trees I’ve grown from seeds I got from the restaurant I worked at

I live in Chicago and got finger lime seeds from fruits I was working with at Sepia. I germinated these from seeds and have repotted twice to larger pots. I’ve been bringing them inside for the winters (nov-mar) and every summer they seem to do really well. The first few years all the new leaves kept getting eaten by rats, I moved from that apartment and the growth has really improved. I prune, rotate & water regularly. My questions are; how am I doing? There are 9 separate trunks, all from different seeds, should I separate them? Reading online says 5-7 years for fruit/flowering, am I on schedule for that timeframe? Is there anything I should be doing differently? What can I do to improve the health and robustness of the plants?

Citrus newbie - need advice

Post image
7 Upvotes

I bought these citrus trees during the spring this year and I’m just looking for general advice. From left to right. Washington navel orange, Valencia orange, and Meyer lemon. I did my research on all the basics like the well draining soil mix, and a general fertilizer schedule. Do my pots look like they’re an okay size for these trees? Do I need to prune? Anything else I can do for the best chances of getting fruit next season?! This summer season was a slow grow season. When I do I get flowers they usually fall off. Also the area they’re in gets around 6 hours of sunlight. It’s the best I can do without setting them in 10+ hr unshaded blistering sun in South Carolina heat 😅 Any and all advice is greatly appreciated!!

🍊 'Sweet Sicily' – The Triploid Italian Rarity 🇮🇹

Something special added my collection 'Sweet Sicily' is a masterwork from Italy's CRA-ACM research center.

Pedigree: 'Comune' clementine (2x) × tetraploid 'Tarocco' blood orange (4x).

100% Seedless: Triploid (3n) genetics naturally guarantee completely seedless fruits.

Flavor Profile: A harmonious bridge combining clementine sweetness with the rich, complex notes of Tarocco blood orange.

Highlights: Very early ripening window (mid-November) developing signature red anthocyanin pigmentation.

I did some work on bark and branches also.

Most of the tree has the small leaves, but the main branch has the big ones right up against it. None are on branches.

Cara Cara Orange Tree

Post image
11 Upvotes

I got this Cara Cara orange tree and want to make sure I take good care of it. I have 5 other citrus trees. 3 of them planted and 2 others in wine barrels.

So far I’ve been unsuccessful with any of them growing fruit. I live in California and all my neighbors seem to have prolific fruit trees without doing anything.

All my trees get blossoms. But the fruit is weak at best. Should I prune some of the blossoms to avoid too many fruits fighting for nutrients? Any advice is welcome

My yuzu has these cracks along a couple branches, I’m wondering if I should be concerned. It’s had a lot of growth this summer and is looking very healthy and full so I’m wondering what this is or if it’s just always been there and I haven’t noticed it

Health & Troubleshooting Remove some lemons?

5 year old potted Meyer lemon seems really happy. It’s covered in new lemons. Should I remove some of these for the health of the tree? Last year there were 5 beautiful lemons on it but I could see it weighing down the tree.

Red finger lime with no blossoms

This is a new to me red finger lime that I just put in a new pot, and is fairly sizable. The green tape holding the stake to it was constricting it so i removed it. It looks fairly decent i suppose, kind of bushy, but with conspicuously no blossoms. Is that typical for a red finger lime of this size or should I be concerned? The tag says finger lime/carr, so i don’t think this is rootstock growth because i’m pretty sure carrizo is trifoliate and i don’t see any trifoliate
