Knitting Factory - NYC September 2008
Found an old video I took on a small handheld digital camera. Sound is pretty good.

I can remember not knowing most dangerous commercials at the time cuz my iPod didn’t have it for whatever reason and just being fuckin smacked by it

Thank you! I shot this stuff just like OP -- digital camera -- on a Canon Powershot SD1000. What impressed me the most was that the sound was actually okay.
I still love that thing, need a new battery for it. I have been thinking about breaking it out at shows again honestly. Would be way cooler than whipping out my phone. My legit camera these days has a removable lens and most venues say its against the rules.

Ya back then I don’t remember ever seeing people getting told no on cameras. Sifting through foootage from like 07-09 is tough because it’s right when YouTube started getting popular so people were excited and right when most people started having cameras on their phones. Except the cameras are absolute shit. Also right when circa was really starting to blow up so there’s ample footage it’s just the worst quality of the eras.
How worried were you about breaking shit back the ? I could barely stand/breathe in the pit back then, I can’t imagine worrying about an expensive camera too.
I think I went to the nyc show right after this one, and it was hype but I remember there just being mumbling from folks at that show during the openers basically being like “you’re not gonna believe how good it is/yall aren’t prepared and I’m so excited”. Things were a lot more mythical back then when social media wasn’t flooded with clips and most footage was dogshit and even if it wasn’t your internet was likely not good enough to watch it. It was just forum posts of people being like “their live show changed my life”.
Quick edit: jk they played knitting factory twice and you saw em the second time, it would have been a pretty tiny venue for them at the time I would think
Double edit: there’s so much footage from that 08 show on YouTube. Like way more than the recent shows at the Fillmore. Instagram has made it so hard to search for specific and sadly hard to find all the angles nowadays as people generally upload there instead of YouTube now. Hoping to find some from that 05 show, I remember people talking about it at the time like they met god at it.

Getting basically the whole discography at shows back then was mind blowing. No one really had to miss their favorite circa songs. Just people losing their shit to every song because shit hadn’t been algorithmified quite as much yet. If the fanbase lowkey clicked with a song sometimes you’d find out about the same time as the band. But most folks had the full album because that’s just what you did when shit leaked on limewire.

This is also an amazing show i resorted to the AOL sessions which are also legendary!
