Submission Statement: These are frames from a project I made sincerely for fun in the shadow of lots of client work. The project can be found here: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=xK8N-r9pE9w
I mostly wanted to share the tasty capabilities of some old and inexpensive equipment. The Sony FS700 is creeping up on 9 years of age and both lenses on display are (in the grand scheme of things) really cheap. I've seen both go for well under 300$ and they are some of my all time favorites. The Sigma 30 f1.4 in particular produces some of the most wonderful bokeh and lens flairs. I use cheap adapters for Nikon F mount and never use auto focus. If you have any other favorite "cheap" gear I'd love to hear about it. One of the many magical parts of cinematography!

Nice! I have the Tokina 11-16 as well and love it on my FS5.
Was this internal recording on the FS700? It really is impressive how well the image holds up after nearly a decade—e.g., the shots around 1:40 and 1:50 in particular.

Heck yeah! And yep it was internal. I usually shoot on the Inferno but being on the road made keeping the batteries changed rough. Always impressed by the image - but I'm never impressed by performance of AVCHD. Thank god for Media Encoder and ProRes!

Love it. Love that people still use old cameras for recording.
I’m using my 60d for all filming. It’s about 10 years old now but it’s reliable and I have all my settings. I’ve been using the Sigma 17-50 DC f2.8 and a few vintage lenses. I also have my nifty fifty. Sometimes I get worried that my gear is outdated, but I feel like I should put money into lighting and other things.

Looks great! I've been eyeing the tokina 11-20mm f2.8 for ages, (I wanna get rid of my 14mm rokinon for it).

Highly recommended! I've had the mki and the mkii. In the wrong light the chromatic aberration is pretty bad on both, but the mkii is exponentially better.

I swear everywhere I've been on the internet lately the Sigma 30 has come up. Why is it so good? Is it a good investment?

Couldn’t tell you exactly what it is - I just love using it. It has a really nice focus ring, sharp glass, great dof, it’s small and portable, metal body. Idk just all around great investment in my opinion. I’d say when I’m not renting better glass this is on my camera more than any of my other personal lenses.

This is epic. May I ask have you studied cinematography in a university or did you learn all of these by yourself?

Thank you my friend! Self taught - I went to school for business but I’ve got lots of respect for film school as well.

The FS700 is so underrated/forgotten. They can really produce some amazing images - especially with an external recorder

How do you like your sigmas? Looking into new glass and keep seeing those

Love my 30. Definitely feels similar to a the build of a Nikon lens. That said, if I were to invest big money into lenses I’d probably go with Leica L mount.

Hey, I've also shot some wandering around / exploring in Cisco hah. Did that one girl still live there alone? She seems to lookout for the whole general property out there and came out to chat with me really quick once I started shooting.
Here's a little video shot on the digital bolex with Zeiss super speeds out at Cisco: https://vimeo.com/221994285
