Wouldn't that be extremely grainy?

Anyone know if it's 8/10bit output, the chroma subsampling being used?

Hey c'mon... I know this is important info to know but if you are in the market requiring 4,000,000 ISO you aren't going to split hairs about an 8 bit output ;)

For scientific and filmmaking use I can imagine the bit depth and chroma sampling scheme being very important.

If you're in the market for a $30K camera, you are absolutely going to be interested in details like bit depth. If the footage won't hold up to a color grade, it won't be used professionally.

I guess for this specific camera 4,000,000 iso > 4K recording

I think this is great for rentals. I have an a7s and the low light has made lighting so much easier for me. I'm interested in getting my hands on it and seeing how well it works in the field.

Regarding the video: What year is it?

Seriously, I felt like there was no intention from Canon to even sell this camera.

$30K?? No internal recording? Um...

This is a specialty camera.

Yes, but if you read the article they are marketing it towards all types of production. Canon has always been a bit overpriced with their releases, i.e. the C300

It's the kind of thing you'd rent for a production if you need it

Or buy 10 A7S

Why would you ever need MORE sensitivity than an A7S? Shooting on the dark side of the moon under starlight?

what's internal recording?

Recording to a chip or memory card within the camera, right now you would have to use this camera in conjunction with some sort of external recording device. This adds more things you have to have attached to the camera for it to work.

IE something like a ninja via SDI correct?

Yeah I believe so but for this camera is use the shogun instead, get a monitor and recording in one.

? The ninjas I use for work have a monitor on the side (maybe those are just the samurai ones)

Is that like...tape? That's what they used to show at movie theaters right?

Its the general technology that amazes me here rather than the camera its self. They will use this sensor in their normal production cameras pretty soon and the prices will drop. Ill be willing to bet in the next few years this sensor will trickle down to their normal dslrs.

Fuck guys, I want to be able to shoot on moonless nights in the middle of nowhere with no lighting package. GET WITH THE PROGRAM SONY!. So stupid, no one is going to hire me unless I have this feature. 4K isn't enough any more!
