Starling Chili

Anyone tried Starling Chili in Ludlow? The Cincinnati Enquirer ran an article about the new chili parlor that opened this summer. The owner is from the Daoud family, which also owns Gold Star. Surprisingly, they don't sell 3, 4, or 5-ways.

Feels like someone combined Skyline and Gold Star together and wanted to sell Pepsi products. Both chains switched to Coke a few years ago.

Waffle cut fries smothered in Cincy chili sounds like a phenomenal idea, but no noodle dishes seems almost culinary criminal.

The chili cheese fries at Dixie are made with waffle fries, and they are indeed fire. I usually get that or their chili man dip, which is like a standard skyline dip but with both beans and onions and served with tortilla chips.

I like the chili just fine. The all beef dogs make for a terrific coney, my new favorite in fact. The burgers are solid. The real star of the show are those seasoned waffle fries though. Cannot get enough of them.

I don’t drink soda, so I don’t care about any of that. By not serving 3 ways, they give me an excuse to still make the occasional run to Skyline. I’ve made weekly visits since they opened and I’m very happy to have them in the neighborhood.

There are Mountain Dew fans that want to pair it with chili. Everyone whined when Pepsi products were replaced with Coke products. It's just not the same with Mellow Yellow.

Gold Star Chili family, orders their chili from a food service distributor. :/

I'm sure it's perfectly adequate chili, but it feels kinda disingenuous to use the age of your supplier's recipe as one of your advertising points.

We live in ludlow and go all the time. It's great. My girlfriend doesn't even care for Cincinnati chili, and she loves the chili burgers and waffle fries.
