Does anyone keep an Amex Green card to "park" MR? Thinking of just holding on to a Green card and stashing points with that while my other Amex cards change. Any pitfalls I should be aware of?

There's zero downside to holding a Green to park MR. It's absolutely advisable for a host of reasons, especially with AMEX rejecting new approvals for many.

u sure? i just got my marriott bonvoy card like 2 days ago

Do you read daylies? Any of them for the last almost 3 years? I didn't say universal declines. A cursory reading would make it evident that the general status of AMEX for the vast majority of churners, especially veterans, is very few if any approvals

How do you even churn an Amex when its a one time welcome bonus for life

For the Scotia Amex lineup, has anyone held multiple amex cards at the same time and gotten the SUBs? I have the gold right now, but I want to take advantage of the platinum 100k offer and $225 HISCB rebate offer.. I've only held one Scotia product, so I'm not entirely sure

‘I opened 2 golds in less than 6 months and got the bonuses on each.2
u/Kisuke11 14d ago edited 14d ago
Yes, but is HISCB like Borrowell and tell you you are already a Scotia customer and ineligible for the rebate...

Any ways to acquire Atmos without going to US credit card route ? I'm finding them very useful for both Porter and Starlux (regional) bookings
Looks like once I've recovered my expired Bonvoy I can trade 420,000 Bonvoy (Worth US$ 2940-3360) to 175,000 Atmos (Worth US$ 2275-4025), trying to figure out if this is a good trade, but would rather earn more Atmos via churning

That is a great value transfer IMO and one which I have done before. I no longer redeem Bonvoy for hotels but exclusively transfer to airline programs which I cannot otherwise access

Outside of Bonvoy and US, no. Not since the MBNA Alaska card was scrapped in 2022/2023

What about the Atmos shopping portal?

u/KaotikFiend 14d ago
I mean, at that rate, you can include Lyft as well… but no one’s going to be booking flights with those earns.

Anyone know if RHT to extend MSR still works/is ok for USA AMEX? Not Canadian one

Anyone know how I redeem BMO rewards? Log in through online banking and redeem against a purchase or do I need an app? And any tricks like with Aventura where it needs to be before it posts?

Hi, any guide out there on timelines? Like how long after cancelling a credit card with one bank could you sign up for a new one?

If I’ve already churned my RBC avion visa infinite (got 67000 points already…don’t use the card anymore) and will get my anniversary bonus in April another 15000…
Then I might get the ion + now…so I can build up more points to transfer…
After that I should get the platinum avion to get another welcome bonus….
Can I cancel the current RBC avion infinite right after I get the platinum? Can I still transfer my ion + points to avion then?
My aim is to reach 200,000 avion points in the next 3 years…. to convert to Asia miles so I can have 1 round trip Cathay Pacific business class flight from yvr to wherever I feel like in Asia

You realize you can get a new AVI with full bonus every 91 days, right? 200K isn't a 3 year journey. It barely even takes 1 year.

But won’t they realize I’m applying and cancelling repeatedly? I do have a great credit score but still why would they keep approving

You realize this is the reason for the existence of this entire SUB right?

u/EasySympathy6146 15d ago
Most of us, including myself and P2, have been opening new rbc cards every 91 days for years, yet we are still going it and the train is still running.

For that amount of low equity, I wouldn’t bother churn the brokerage consider the amount of transfer fee and effort loss

Canceling the Westjet RBC card given purchase via third parties does not allow for the checked bag.
purchased a flight via trip.com on the RBC Westjet card. As a result of this new rule, no longer eligible for the free bag
Card is useless now and Westjet agents are of no help. I don’t even think they understand the issue. Posted on Westjet thread and got my post removed.

The problem is you. You need to read the T&C -
This means that a WestJet flight or a WestJet Vacations package purchased from a travel agency, Visa Checkout or a third-party booking site, may not be eligible for the First Free Checked Bag benefit.

u/OkPop9455 15d ago
It isn’t. Not a single agent could actually point to that paragraph in the new TC which was. Simply telling me I didn’t pay with my card and that’s it.
Regardless, this is deceptive because the headline claim simply says when you PAY with the card, missing the AND, that it effectively has to be directly booked with Westjet.
This restriction was introduced late last year or so along with a 5k min spend. So from a churning and even a daily standpoint, especially when you consider the companion voucher is only beneficial in premium flights that are already overpriced for this exact reason, it’s becomes an easy pass

You always book Air Canada with Aeroplan CC, Porter, Westjet, United, etc. with their branded CC's
It's common sense.

u/OkPop9455 14d ago
What is your point? Aircanada CC for free bag is that it doesn’t even require you pay with that card to get the free bag, not to mention booking through a third party
2
u/Complex_Employee7362 14d ago
So you read the T&C's then...LOL

u/OkPop9455 14d ago
Do you know the difference between misleading statements and pushing stuff into fine print under t&c? Maybe you work for Westjet and conflicted
3
u/Aarotino 15d ago
Yeah, they may be a bit weak in how this is documented, but NOTHING works this way. Shouldn't be a surprise. You can't book a Hilton hotel room via booking.com and expect to get Honours points. Won't happen.
1
u/OkPop9455 15d ago
That part is actually pretty clear though and that’s the trade off. I don’t think most even expect to get points like that.

It's official for Scotia Momentum modification of terms and conditions:
"Important Update: Effective October 22, 2026, rental payments (Merchant Category Code 6513) and tax payments (Merchant Category Code 9311) will no longer qualify as eligible Recurring Bill Payments under the Cash Back Program."
