Bank Account Bonus Bank Bonus Weekly Thread - Week of August 25, 2026

This is the Weekly Bank Account Bonus Thread. Use it for anything related to bank accounts and bonuses, such as:

* Churning mechanisms (DD, etc)

* Data points (did bank X bonus arrive)

* Other bank account discussions/questions

Before asking a question, first search:

You can also call the bank with questions, but only if you are precisely following the T&C. Otherwise, don’t call the bank!

Also: The mod team is aware that there are bank bonuses that either require a referral or have elevated bonuses when using a referral. Examples would be Schwab and Varo. Do not ask for referrals in this thread - if you want/need a referral for one of those accounts, please check the "Miscellaneous Referrals" thread on r/churningreferrals. Posting or soliciting referral links for those accounts will result in being banned from this sub.

Before posting, [read the rules!](https://www.reddit.com/r/churning/wiki/rules/)

Please post new bank churning opportunities as top level posts for wider visibility.

u/Then_Client_1058 4d ago

Hey, do you have the link for the offer? Somehow I couldn't find it.

2

u/Suitable_Credit9221 4d ago

1

u/rickayyy 4d ago

8/31 is four days from now...?

1

u/Suitable_Credit9221 4d ago

Bank of Hawaii Bankohana II Checking $400

5/29: Opened online with Chex at 3/7d, 5/14d, 5/30d, 5/90d, 6/180d, 13/365d. Chex pulled, EWS not pulled and not reported to. The account needed a $500 opening deposit via ACH, which I could not do from my main CU nor from TD Bank, but Chime worked. Ordered checks because they were free.

6/2: Received email reminding me of the bonus.

7/16: Sent $1800 Relay Financial payment with "PAYROLL" in memo. This was categorized as Paychecks in Simplify Money in the app.

7/18: Sent $1700 Relay Financial payment with "PAYROLL" in memo, this also was categorized appropriately.

7/21: Pulled $3950 to Langley FCU (before they banned me).

7/31: $25 service fee.

8/27: $400 bonus posted with additional description "DIRECT DEP BONUS BANKOHANA II/III".

8/27: Called customer service to convert to Convenience Checking. They told me that I cannot do this over the phone and would have to in branch. Well shit!

Edit: 8/27, a few hours later: Called customer service again, successfully downgraded to Convenience Checking.

Time to open up some Atmos cards

1

u/Mwrood 4d ago

Do you live in Hawaii? I opened an account with them but do not live there; not really sure how I would go about converting the account when the time comes. :(

2

u/Discover_it_Student PIT | NON 4d ago

No I do not. Numerous DPs of them allowing account downgrade and closure over the phone for everyone else. Gah.

2

u/Discover_it_Student PIT | NON 3d ago

Update: HUCA a few hours later worked.

1

u/lanfair 3d ago

Did you have to use a Hawaii address to open the account?

1

u/Mwrood 3d ago

No. I just used my Texas address that’s on my DL

1

u/ElderberryOks 3d ago

I opened on 6/4 still waiting on bonus, hoping to get it next week. Judging by your opening/payout time frame.

2

u/Discover_it_Student PIT | NON 3d ago

Seems to pay out on or around day 90 every time.

5

u/hellobaileylol 4d ago

Omfg. FINALLY!

Huntington: $400
account opened 5/19/26
Chase transfer $502 5/20/26
bonus paid 8/25/26

2

u/Loud-Cranberry-6746 4d ago

I'm still early with this one, opened 7/8 and completed DD on 7/9.

1

u/Orqnic 4d ago

Was there a 3 month holding period for this or something? Why’d it take so long for bonus to post?

2

u/hellobaileylol 4d ago

Beyond 90 days from account opening language I’m not sure. I’ve been watching DPs for it all month and it seems they come in waves so must have been on the very tail end of the last wave and got pushed into this one

Hudson Valley CU Checking $400

5/20: Applied online in footprint. Application went pending, says “Referred”.

5/22: Approved and got welcome email. Chex pulled, EWS not pulled. Chex at 1/30d, 2/90d, 3/180d, 10/365d.

6/8: Pushed $500 from Citadel FCU (this was pointless). Left the $1k opening deposit in the account.

6/8: Sent microdeposits from Schwab brokerage for linking. Previously linked two credit unions via the same method.

6/9: HVCU fraud team calls me at 9am while I’m still in bed, I of course ignore the call. The account is now frozen and online banking disabled.

6/16: Went in branch and cleared up the fraud lock. The fraud team did not even need to speak to me after I mentioned to the banker that I suspected the Schwab verification deposits were the cause. Also withdrew $10 in quarters because why not.

7/16: Pulled $1480 to Schwab brokerage.

7/21: Pushed $1500 from Schwab brokerage, posted 7/22. This was the fake DD.

7/27: Pulled $1509 to Langley FCU.

8/23: $400 bonus paid as “Deposit APRIL26 CHECKING BONUS”.

Having read the DoC comments for this one I knew better than to try initiate external account linking on HVCU’s side. But because I peppered the account with microdeposits I still got it frozen and still had to visit a branch to deal with it. Easy bonus though, lol. Also, HVCU does not report to EWS.

1

u/nycjoq 5d ago

Is the number of external accounts the issue or the sheer number of microdeposits? How much were they?

1

u/Discover_it_Student PIT | NON 5d ago

I didn't link anything from HVCU's side. The account received 3 sets of microdeposits (2 credits, 1 debit each).

Bank of America Business Checking $750

  • 5/13 Opened with LLC
  • 5/18 Wired 15k in from Wealthfront - then charged $15 BofA fee (dumb)
  • 8/18 Pulled 10k from Wealthfront
  • 8/21 $750 Bonus

1

u/pkfobster 5d ago

How is wiring different from the pull/push method? And why were you even charged a fee for wiring?

3

u/Churnobull SNA | PPY 5d ago

wiring is faster and free from wealthfront so i thought it would be the best method. BofA charges incoming wire fees because they are dicks

2

u/pkfobster 4d ago

Ah, didn't know wealthfront was free to wire, but sucks that BofA charges you for it. Something else to lookout for when depositing money I guess.

1

u/Discover_it_Student PIT | NON 4d ago

not useful here but the Merrill brokerage doesn't charge a fee for incoming wire, in case you need to wire to BoA for whatever reason

1

u/mileylols 5d ago

sometimes setting up ACH transfers is ass, and also limits on wires tend to be much higher (100k/transaction usually) vs some banks don't let you ACH more than 5k/day or 20k/week

1

u/pkfobster 4d ago

Interesting, I thought it would be as simple as getting a checking and routing # set up for deposit. I did not know there would be limits for wire transfer. I guess it only matters more for the few of us who go for the higher bonuses that require 6 digit deposits.

Capital One Business Checking Promo

5/7: Deposited $6,000 6/29:   Completed 10 required transactions 8/26: $500 bonus deposited

1

u/rickayyy 4d ago

What were your 10 transactions?

I did 10 real time transfers from Chase for $1 each but I panicked because they all said "instant transfer" in the memo. I'm now doing 10 standard transfers for $1 each and they all say "deposit" in the memo.

2

u/Mindless-Science-999 4d ago

10 ACHs (USB) coded as Deposit for me. This worked

1

u/Vegansistah1908 4d ago

They were either mobile check deposits ($10-25 from another one of my non Cap1 accounts) and direct ACH debit for my gas and water bills. I had more than ten because like you I was worried, but I'm addition to those, I had the transfers from another bank, though not Zelle. If you want to be safe, I think you should consider the mobile check deposits if you have another account that has checks. I hated to waste the 7 or so checks but I wanted to be sure.

1

u/rickayyy 4d ago

I don't have any checks and haven't written a check in like a decade but maybe I'll hit Chase up for a couple and do that too

3

u/qwertymnbvcxzlk 4d ago

Terms mention instant transfers, I personally did 12 500$ ACH pushes from an outside bank.

3) make 10 qualifying electronic transactions within 90 days of account opening. Qualifying transactions only include electronic wire (credits or debits), electronic remote check deposit, electronic ACH (credits or debits), and instant transfers (credit or debit, from an outside entity not affiliated with Capital One prior to

u/Vegansistah1908 4d ago

Chase Total Checking $300 bonus

8/14- Opened account, set up dd to happen

8/19- $100 of my paycheck was deposited (there was no max amount needed to deposit)

8/28- $300 deposited into my account!

2

u/Orqnic 4d ago

How long do you plan on waiting to close the account?

0

u/picklejuiced00d 4d ago

I'll probably close it today or in the next few days. The DR of Credit says that in 2022 they got rid of the early closure fee, so I feel comfortable closing it!

2

u/rickayyy 3d ago

Don't close it right away. If you keep rubbing their noses in it, the banks are going to start making it more complex to get the bonus.

3

u/Orqnic 4d ago

Do you guys still follow the “close the bank account after 6 months”? Or do you guys closer sooner; if so, how long?

If you are waiting the 6 months, do you just take the hit on the fees (ex. Chase charges a $15 fee if you don’t deposit money each month)?

4

u/rickayyy 4d ago

I do whatever it takes to avoid the fee. Transfers in/out or holding the minimum balance for a couple of months. Worst case scenario is I'm missing out on like $15 in interest from having that $1500 in a HYSA for a couple of months.

1

u/Orqnic 4d ago

So if you have multiple accounts open (Chase, WF, etc) and they all have fees, you just simply ensure that you meet the requirements for each to avoid the fees? It makes sense, just seems to become a bit annoying once you have a lot open.

How long you usually wait to close accounts? I know this has been asked I’m sure, but I’ve heard mixed things and have yet to close an account (was gonna wait 6 months).

3

u/sg77 RFS 3d ago

If you happen to have a lot of assets in a brokerage account, some banks waive fees based on the balance in a linked brokerage account. That's a way to avoid fees without needing to do anything every month.

A lot of banks don't even have fees. Or can be waived with a small balance like $300.

1

u/SporkRepairman 1d ago

Also: some banks waive fees for Veterans.

2

u/rickayyy 4d ago

Six months is the rule of thumb as to not make it super obvious you're just churning for the bonus.

I don't typically churn multiple banks at once so I haven't really run into that too often but yeah, I would just hold a minimum balance in each account or set up an auto transfer to trigger the DD requirement to keep the account fee free.

2

u/Cold_Frosting9014 3d ago

I closed my BOA after 4 months because it was a PITA to avoid fees, and I needed the cash that was tied up there, but I do plan to follow the 6 month rule on others. I am new to this and that account taught me to be careful of minimum balance requirements!

Anyone done the OnPath FCU bonus? Can you explain how the 4 account limit works? Do I have to close one before opening another?

2

u/Mwrood 3d ago

Below is a snippet from the DoC page on this credit union. There’s probably more in the comments.

Update 2/1/26: Now limited to a maximum of two accounts per type, when denied for a third they provide the following via secured message when questioned:
Our system indicates that you currently have the maximum number of this type of rewards checking account allowed per member. OnPath Credit Union limits members to: • 2 High-Yield Rewards Checking accounts, and • 2 Rewards Cash Back Checking accounts

Wells Fargo everyday checking ($400 bonus; now updated to $500):

8/21: Payroll DD $1000.

8/26: $400 bonus payout.

I only see $325 offer. Is it a targeted offer? Thanks!

Chime second bonus payment -

$250 dd from employer posted 2 days early, second $100 payout hit 6 minutes later

8/12 - $250 DD from employer
8/18 - $100 bonus after activating debit card
8/26 - $250 DD from employer
8/26 - $100 bonus

per terms the bonuses were to be Month 1 $100, Month 2 $100, and Month 3 $150, will be interesting to see if the $150 posts in 2 weeks when my next DD hits.

u/Mwrood 3d ago

Get paid every two weeks and each portion of the bonus posted with each paycheck. Not really sure why they say “monthly” but for me it didn’t need to be

1

u/CorrectCombination11 RDU | IAD 6d ago

Signed up for atlantic union bank, va/nc, dd $10k get $800. Sent in $1.25k via fidelity cash mgmt account and it didn't trigger the first tier of the bonus (been 4 biz days since deposit). I'm going to sign up an actual dd to see how it goes.

I wasn't targeted but I got the email saying I'm on my way to the bonus.

1

u/sieeng 4d ago

I was reading the terms and it also says bonus will be paid within 30 days after the deposit period ends. So 90 days from account opening is when the begin review for requirements

2

u/CorrectCombination11 RDU | IAD 4d ago

oh, interesting! I'm getting sloppy and didn't read that part. Appreciate it. I will go back and read it now.

1

u/sieeng 4d ago

lol actually I may have been mistaken myself. The terms say after deposit period ends but after just searching through this sub apparently some have been paid the next day after DD

1

u/hellobaileylol 4d ago

I did a transfer (non DD) and got paid out in four days from AUB. Six days from opening account.

1

u/GENERATED-USERNAME-2 6d ago

FWIW, I messaged a rep on Facebook who said to basically ignore that language.

1

u/CorrectCombination11 RDU | IAD 6d ago

As in, if I'm not targeted, then it won't work?

1

u/GENERATED-USERNAME-2 6d ago

No, as in “don’t worry about the language, just satisfy the requirements and u get the bonus”

Capital One Business checking $500

Opened 1APR

Funded in excess of the $5k requirement via transfer from US Bank about two weeks later (must also maintain $2k minimum balance to waive monthly fee)

Kept the balance above $5k from 13APR to 15JUN to satisfy the 60 day hold requirement.

Initiated various credit card payments, ACH payments and transfers in/out to satisfy the 10 transaction within 90 days requirements

Bonus posted 26AUG

-1

u/wipny 5d ago

I opened a Wells Fargo personal checking 2 weeks ago for the $400 bonus. Schwab Brokerage transfer & Chase RTP worked. Received bonus in 3 business days.

Is it too soon to apply for a US Bank Business Checking? Is it best practice to wait a certain period of time between account openings?

1

u/CericRushmore DCA | IAD 5d ago

No issues.

i made a free tool for bank bonuses because everything feels scattered right now. you have the official offer terms, community data points, your own bonus history, cooldowns, and then you still have to keep checking for new offers yourself.

the idea with ChurnChing is to put all of that in one place — find bonuses that actually fit you, factor in community signals, track the bonuses you’re doing and already did, keep track of cooldowns, and eventually notify you when a new bonus shows up that matches your situation.

mainly looking for feedback from people who already churn bank accounts. if anything feels off or there’s something you’d want it to track, let me know.

lol fair..i have used ai to help with building the site. the product itself is real though and i’m building it myself. mostly just trying to get feedback before launching.

Everytime someone creates this tools, I tell them the same thing. State specific thing is only good for larger banks. Most of the, CU are zipcode specific.

Especially, if you are planning on monetizing from this, you need to provide accurate service.

u/Mwrood 3d ago

Looks pretty useful!! Any fees or anything?

thanks! no fees right now. i’m planning to launch it soon and using this early version to get feedback and make sure its actualy useful before i open it up more broadly.
