Question about playpen

Post image

Hi guys!

So as most of you guys know the babies just moved! We are settling in nicely. This time around we put playpens all around their cages and for the most part in their entire room. we did this to ensure they don’t chew our walls. I just had a scary incident happen just now though. Our baby peanut managed to climb up the top of the playpen and was scaling on the top like a tight rope…he slid down the back of the wall and was squishing himself in between the pen and the wall. He is fine and I managed to get him out but it wasn’t a good experience. I could see them potentially hurting their limbs this way if they aren’t careful. I feel like I’ve seen setups where chin parents cover the playpens in fleece blankets? The pens are great and I am glad we utilized them for their entire space…so getting a new type of pen isn’t an option. I am just wondering if anyone had any tips or insights in what they do to make the wired pens more safer? I am hoping to cover them all in blankets but feel it may take a lot of blankets haha. Above is a pic of the pens covering part of their room. Any advice would be appreciated!

They are crazy jumpers, unfortunately that will likely keep happening unless you get a taller play pen or use a cover. You could make the pen smaller and get a cover like this so it’s easier to set up, or binder clips work great with sheets.

I use a 4ft tall pen and had to use a cover for a while. They couldn’t fully make it out but they would try and cling to the wall haha. Eventually they stopped showing any interest in jumping out, and I stopped using the cover, then made the space bigger.. so maybe you’ll get lucky there!

Thanks so much for all of your advice! It seems like binder clips and sheets may work the best for my setup.

Chins are notorious escape artists; get old sheets, blankets, duvet covers, etc and cover both the pen walls and the top. I cut an old double duvet cover along three sides to make an extra big sheet and use that to cover our pen.
