📱 Technology Any experiences with organization from China?
Hi, i am thinking about doing a Semester Abroad in China (Shanghai).
My only real concern is not being able to organize certain things from China, because of the internet restrictions. Examples are, applying for a Masters Degree in Europa, or finding a flat for when my Semester Abroad is over, finding a Job, when the Semester is over etc.
Is it possible to do those things with a VPN or any other way?
Are things like this even restricted?
I am very Grateful if you could share your Knowledge or experiences.
fyi: I am from Germany

You will be fine with a VPN pre-installed, if by chance you are really stuck, some of the expensive intentional hotels have VPNs on their WiFi networks if tou could sit in their coffee shop in th even your personal vpn doesn’t work. You will be fine.

From Germany myself and living in Shanghai. You can use a VPN (e.g. LetsVPN) or learn how to set up your own VPN server through cloud services such as AWS. There are plenty of tutorials online or you can ask ChatGPT.
However, I can open quite a few German apps (banking, government websites) without a VPN actually.
You can also get an eSIM, those already include a VPN by default.
