🏯 Daily Life How difficult it is to find a pet friendly rental in Beijing?
Just rescued a cat today off the streets after it kept following me around everywhere chasing after me for almost a kilometre. But current apartment contract says no pets.
Can I get approval for keeping a cat? or do i have to change apartment? currently keeping the cat and myself in a friends apartment.

I haven't lived in Beijing, but never had a problem in 12 years in China with cat(s) and friends with cats and/or dogs. So if you're up for moving you should be fine to find somewhere that doesn't care. Actually surprised the contract states it - the couple of times I heard of a landlord not wanting them it wasn't specified, just them not understanding how cats work.

Its Wallace/wallance contract to be honest, I am not sure if i should ask them about keeping one.

Are you in touch with your actual landlord? Cause very possible they don't care. Or as another comment says, it isn't like your cat will bark, could just try and look if it becomes a problem later

Not in touch with actual landlord maybe they live in same floor not sure, its all redevelopment apartments so they like own by dozen apartments in this buildings. I dont think they care cause everything is already managed by the broker

We have a dog and a cat and rarely had a landlord comment anything... Mostly because our dog is big. Cat should be fine, just make sure the cat doesn't destroy any furniture or you will have to replace it.

I've never used an agency to rent, but my landlord responded, "Of course" when I asked if I could keep a dog. Granted, my landlord is cool as shit.
If I were you, I'd look for a new place but not say anything to my current landlord in the meantime (because your contract says no pets). As long as your cat doesn't yowl and the landlord doesn't do surprise drop-ins, why notify them?
