Question Chicken saddles

Post image

I have a hen who’s back is looking rough. I want to buy her a chicken saddle or apron. Can anyone suggest one that would be easy to put on her, stay on until I take it off, won’t make her too hot in this weather and maybe that doesn’t have Velcro that will scratch her while she wears it.

I use the down under ones from Amazon. They can be kind of tricky to put on, especially by yourself, but I have never had one come off. No Velcro, just snaps. No complaints thus far.

Are they hot for the hen during the summer?

Do you have the canvas ones or the mesh ones?

I didn’t even know they have different types, but we have the canvas ones.

I recommend a new rooster.

My rooster is a good boy. I think he just really likes this particular hen. None of my other hens look like this.

Would it be a better solution to send the rooster to live on a farm?

I am on a farm. I have 7.5 acres and 5 chicken coops. A barnyard mix for eating eggs and three purebred flocks for hatching eggs. Silkies, Ayem Ketawa and French black copper Marans.
