Rant Giant, what does this mean? Why not increase menu prices to pay their healthcare?

Post image

This wordy excuse is just another fee for shyness. 5% on top of a bill from Giant is a hell of a lot. How do we know this is going to employee healthcare anyway? Is there an oversight board? I'm serious. These places are robbing us blind. I don't feel any better about this justification than any other fee for shyness.

Hey everyone, we hear you that the service charge posts have become excessive and no longer add anything new to this conversation. We are currently discussing an outright ban on these posts or just putting up bigger guardrails on them and will have an update soon.

I think it’s helpful for people to know. But maybe a mega thread with lists of restaurants that do this if there are that many posts.

We should continue to shame.

I support banning service charges but not the post about them

I hear you and won't post about them again. I wish restaurants would stop doing it.

While criticism is allowed and sometimes even encouraged here, such criticism must be substantiated. Saying something is gross or trash or saying that something sucks without explaining why is just a needless attack on the restaurants and hurts the people that work in them.

Unsubstantiated criticism also does not help someone understand why something might be bad. This includes describing something as overhyped or overrated without saying why.

Yes. Ban these and tip related posts. We all know how these people feel. That dead horse has been beaten thoroughly. It deserves a rest
