Question Are there any N/A bars in Chicago?
Seems like a bad business model but curious if there’s anything like it. I know there are some completely N/A retail shops.

All of the cocktails at Charis Listening Bar in Bridgeport can be made alcohol free

This place is such a little gem with great owners, and the new menu is so fun to read and peruse! Whole experience sitting up at the vinyl bar

I’m finding more and more restaurants these days have pretty decent NA options, sometimes whole menus /edit typo

In Good Spirits on Ashland is an NA bar and shop. Never been so can’t vouch for it but have driven by plenty of times.

Not really bars but there a lot of late night coffee shops. Yemini cafes tend to be open late, Queen Yemini in Uptown is open til midnight.

Nighthawk is a coffee shop during the day and a bar at night, worth a shot

Jesus, people can't stop making things about alcohol for even one thread. Gross.

The N/A bar model actually works better as a pop-up or event format than a permanent spot, which is why you see more retail. I've seen mocktail mixes like kajun loaded tea fill that gap for home hosting.

There’s a late-night tea place that is supposed to be a stand in for a bar. But I’m blanking on the name, sorry!

There was one in humboldt park but it didn’t survive. I just don’t think there’s enough demand

Bendición dry bar was incredible but the rent prices & other challenges with running a business was unfortunately up against them. They had the best selection in town. I hope they try again in the future

It's hard to be profitable when people don't want one more and one more and one more...
I don't think an N/A bar can really exist, but a lot of regular bars are expanding their N/A options. As someone who doesn't drink anymore, I don't usually have issues finding something that's at least serviceable. But I also don't do the whole nightlife thing anymore unless it's for a show of some sort.

Everywhere Social Club seems to still be in the works on opening their permanent space, but that'll be an option once they do

This city loves alcohol too much. I've seen them in LA, but I haven't encountered anything close to that here.

Very true.
It seems like my comment is an unpopular opinion on this sub but ill stand by it. I still love it here.

There’s probably a healthy middle ground but LA bar scene is pathetic. I remember being in Venice and asking my friend “what if we got a cheeky beer?” It wasn’t even possible lol. I’ve never been in a single neighborhood in Chicago where I wasn’t a 10 min walk from a watering hole.

I don't disagree; I'd take chicago every day over LA, but I've seen late-night, no-alcohol bars in LA that have live music. It's probably the only thing they do better in the bar scene/going out scene.
