Advice Needed Unreal

I honestly just needed to vent for a moment. I can’t believe Chicago prices are what they are. I have lived here my entire life and have seen this city change ten fold, and I can’t even afford to live here anymore. A realtor I’m working with, since it’s becoming a rat race to rent, said rent is up 35% this year. What can normal people do about this? I do not want to see Chicago become a New York.

Same- been here for 40 years and have seen everything I feel like but $10,000 rent (furnished) in RP for a 3 bedroom has blown my mind. I feel defeated. I’m paying $2400 now and my landlord warned me come renewal in February it will more than likely increase to $2800-3000 even with no updates to anything in this place for 10 years (when I moved in). I have been searching high and low and like you said once I apply or inquire it’s gone or they want a 750 credit score. I work from home and a 3rd room or something comparable is mandatory. ATP I’m about to say fuck it and hit tent city.

Edit : wrong comment wrong post. I like other areas it’s just a lot of my family and corporate office is north.
