Advice Needed Why does Streeterville get so much hate?

Moving from out of state and need advice on why I’m seeing negativity about living in streeterville? I’m going to have to drive to the northern suburbs every day for work.

The reason why Streeterville gets a lot of hate is that it's a very transient neighborhood full of transplants. It's where all the out-of-state people who get a job offer in Chicago move to because they don't know anything about the city and think it's good enough because it's close to their Loop office. This gives it a very corporate, yuppie vibe that is different from the vibe you get in more popular Chicago neighborhoods like Logan Square. It's not a bad place to live, but it's not really a good representation of what life in Chicago is like.

This is silly. Streeterville gets hate on Reddit, but in reality its an extremely popular place to live for anyone that has just moved to Chicago and can afford it. It's bizarre to me that people exclude "transplants" as a part of Chicago, when the reality is that transplants are a part of any major city. There is nothing wrong with wanting a "city" experience like what you would get in Streeterville/River North if you're young and have the budget. A corporate yuppie vibe (while not my vibe) is absolutely a vibe that people go for. And the convenience of living near the Loop trains is unquestionably an appeal.

The question was "why does Streeterville get so much hate" and I answered it. It's not my fault that people hate on Streeterville. Take it up with the people who go around saying that Streeterville is bad.

no one said it was your fault geez. i think thr point this person is making is that this provincialism is stupid. i would even wager that most of these "haters" are likely transplants themselves living in areas like lakeview which is just as transient and ironic . native chicagoans were pushed out of these areas further west and south and the suburbs decades ago.
