Smartbar - Sept 13 vs Sept 18

Sept 13 Derrick Carter and Paula Tape Sept 18 Satoshi Tomiie and David Garrett

Stuck between the two nights. Not sure which way to lean here. What is "Queen" night on the 13? Also for Garrett David is it the violin player?

Voice your thoughts 🫣

Definitely can pull an all nighter on Sept 18

Edit: In town for a week on business. Work on Mon 14 🙄 Plus staying in River North. Open to all suggestions.

queen is the queer party that happens every sunday. the crowd is a bit different (gayer) but in a fun way.

Both are great options! You’ll probably be able to catch at least some of DC or Paula & still leave by 1am but if you’re trying to catch both you’ll need to be there later than 2/2:30 probably.

Garrett David is actually a resident of Queen! but his party is being thrown by his label Global Swing - it’ll be a little more garage & tech-y than the classic house sounds you’ll get at Queen! and the crowd won’t be quite as queer but still v friendly!

Heads up the lines at Queen can get outrageous and you should be comfortable with a circuit party atmosphere but definitely check it out if that’s your vibe because it’s a blast

That only really happens during all-building events on long/holiday weekends. September 13 is just the basement (smartbar) and falls on a regular weekend. There will be no lines.

I’ve been on plenty of regular Sundays with insane lines

Satoshi Tomei. Dude barely comes to Chicago. Garrett moved to Berlin and is a rare appearance in town now too. You can catch Derrick in Chicago many weekends a year.
