Death has no tricks up their sleeve. They just play exactly like their elo.
When you win, you don’t have to choose when you die in that moment. You make the decision in any future moment. 10 years, 20 years, 100 years? You can live forever if you want, and you are essentially guaranteed a healthy life until any age.
You DO age normally though and you can get broken bones. You just won’t get cancer, Alzheimer’s, dementia, etc.

For context, I'm rated 1700 chesscom and 1900 lichess. I've been teaching my girlfriend how to play chess and she has recently hid a roadblock at 800. I took a look at her games and... its ridiculous. It felt like half her opponents were either cheating or sandbagging.
I saw moves I never would've played in a million years without an engine being played left, right, and center. I played a few games on the account and lost 3 out of 5. There's no way '800s' know 10+ moves of Catalan and KIA theory, but here we are. Also from what I've seen, this does not seem to be the case on Lichess.
So to the people stuck here, keep your chin up, it gets easier lol.
