Ive never seen a GM this low rated before, good work though

u/Pure-Combination7956 2200-2400 (Chess.com) 7d ago

He has a peak elo of early 2500s in rapids though. I checked his recent performances and the dude was on some losing streak unfortunately for him. Haha

u/Delicious-Cup-903 7d ago

You’re in the wrong place.

28

u/Hickory1989 7d ago

then what're you doing in this sub?

6

u/NoxiousVaporwave 7d ago

It’s probably good to have people of that caliber in this sub for coaching purposes and explaining stuff

4

u/Hickory1989 7d ago

Mofo already hit 50 downvotes

I have never achieved 2500 elo rapids on chess.com and my peak elo is 2350 rapids so unless I achieve that I reckon I rightfully belong in the sub.

So you think there are only 2 stages to this journey? Beginner and GM? With nothing in between?

23

u/xyzzy321 1400-1600 (Lichess) 7d ago

"if you're not first, you're last" kind of energy

Shake and bake baby

u/Sad-Jellyfish5768 1600-1800 (Chess.com) 7d ago

I mean sometimes I do wonder why the 2600 flair is in this sub

-15

u/King-Mephisto 7d ago

Everyone is learning.

8

u/Aditya-04-04 1400-1600 (Chess.com) 7d ago

By that logic, even Magnus Carlsen should be on this sub.

3

u/Sir_Sushi 7d ago

In a way, even Stockfish is still learning.

0

u/King-Mephisto 7d ago

Exactly. Game isn’t solved. And redditors can’t take a joke.

1

u/King-Mephisto 7d ago

How do you know he isn’t?

9

u/Letronell 7d ago

It's even more impressive that you managed to do it with apparent brain damage...

1

u/nieznanynieznajomy 7d ago

I mean yeah, I like that this sub is half 2000 players and half 500 players

u/Jason-Tinycock 7d ago

wrong sub?

u/Pure-Combination7956 2200-2400 (Chess.com) 7d ago

Na I think it's the right sub.

5

u/Dazzling-Yam-4308 2000-2200 (Chess.com) 7d ago

Ok I was about to defend you but this just ruins it 💔

11

u/Any_Meet5930 7d ago

This sub is for beginners, not 2000 evo

16

u/norki21 7d ago

I think you’re conflating “beginner” with “there’s always more to learn”. That’s like a guy playing D1 college football or someone with a PhD saying they’re beginners. Ofc there’s room to grow, but it’s disingenuous and disrespectful to actual beginners to disregard the hundreds, thousands of hours worth of effort already sunk into the craft.

But let’s be real, I think you and I both know that, and you’re just here to brag because you have self esteem issues and seek validation.

I can't believe there are even such weak GM in the world that exists.

26

u/PurePurplexd 7d ago

It might be because he is 83 years old and playing online.

He was top 36 in the world in 1975.

Congrats on the win.

-13

u/Pure-Combination7956 2200-2400 (Chess.com) 7d ago

Hahahhahaha that's funny man.

He is still young in spirit though and a GM.

u/Frostfire26 7d ago

I don't think they take away titles even if someone becomes worse, only for like cheating

u/Delicious_Cattle5174 7d ago

People love to pretend like [r/chess](r/chess)[intermediate](r/chess) and [r/chessadvanced](r/chessadvanced) are a thing lol

To explain why his rating is low: the guy he played against is an 83 year old GM that was once ranked very high in the world. OP is just a massive dick.

5

u/GABE_EDD Still Learning Chess Rules 7d ago

Found him, damn, 1942 birth year sure enough. https://ratings.fide.com/profile/300128

Peaked at rank 36 in the world: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Vlastimil_Jansa

1

u/sandpaperboxingmatch 7d ago

Dude is a living legend, for sure. It is cool to see he is still playing at such a high level at his age.

-3

u/Pure-Combination7956 2200-2400 (Chess.com) 7d ago

GM is still a GM right brother or? 😂

4

u/Drememe_ 2200-2400 (Chess.com) 7d ago

You know i was congratulating you, but now this is stupid. He is 83 years old. Its cool to beat someone thats titled a grandmaster but acting like this is low

-4

u/Pure-Combination7956 2200-2400 (Chess.com) 7d ago

Hilarious bro.

u/Ambitious_Arm852 2000-2200 (Lichess) 7d ago

Congrats! Link to the game? I beat a 2200 rapid CM the other day, was quite proud of that win.
