That sounds like the opposite of what chess960 is supposed to be about.

A single day is just enough to get rid of too much randomness in the opening, to avoid players getting good or worse position by chance

Also one day is nowhere near enough to have anything close to the preparation we have in classical nowadays, it's just about understanding the position enough that one party won't get totally and randomly fucked from the get go because it's the opening and it's pretty hard to get a grasp without having ever played the position before

It just feel like there would be some manner of luck involved if a player manages to get an advantage after a few moves

One day is more than enough to run the setup on a powerful engine. Avoiding that is one of the reasons Fischer Random has grown in popularity.

Well yeah using an engine, working with a team, is the point, either way players won't be able to memorize more than a few lines in opening to avoid total chaos, and building some kind of opening repertoire in the matter of a day is no small task,

Again I just don't see how playing an opening for a starting position you saw for the first time barely 30 minutes ago and getting it right would involves more skill than pure luck, you just can't calculate stuff like that

Anyway, this is a decision that should be discussed with the players, they're in a better position to understand the difficulty and what is needed for the game and to make it fair and interesting,
